New GTI + delivery

Well, another call to the dealer to check whether mine has crossed into the UK yet and...it has not.
It is still sat in Emden waiting for a ship.
It was not my regular sales guy that I spoke to today but I think it was who he would usually turn to for assistance with such tracking queries. He seemed more familiar with the end to end process.
On behalf of myself and a couple of other people waiting for GTi's from this branch, he is going to email a query off to see if he can get any more details about when we are likely to see our cars on these shores.
He said that he is hopeful that I will be in it before May is out.
My guess is that it will arrive in the week of May that I am away from home. That would be typical.

Or as Yanks say 'car dealership (buying from) 101: identify and deal with, and only deal with, the person(s) who is 'on top of things' and knows what they are about. Don't waste your time with those who don't know and /or aren't overly motivated'. Hope it's good news soon for y'all ....

I got notification it was in Emden on 7/4, two weeks later it got on a ship to Sheerness. Arrived last Tuesday and will be at the dealer on the 8th. Got my finance docs to sign today and reg number is on that.

mine took two weeks from arrival at Emden until it got on a UK bound ship, then two weeks to get a transporter.........still in Sheerness

After giving detail about what ship our white GTI+ might be on, based on other BW13 people here (Glovis Sunlight) and asking for confirmation of whether the car made it to Emden yet or is on another ship, I got a generic response... "yes, your car has been built and is on it's way from South Africa - we expect it within this month". So it must be arriving today then?

Didn't tell me anything that I didn't already know - that it's built and has left SA to be somewhere on the way here.

Dealers, eh?

Now to decide whether to buy some tyres for the new one from my local supplier on the last day of the Michelin Cashback (but not pick them up yet).

No way I'm going to let the wife suffer on the Bridgestones, knowing how crap they are and how much better PS4s are. She's got a heavier right foot than me and is used to unflappable traction on the Golf R from standstill - she'll have to get reintroduced to tramping!

That is odd that your dealer hasn't\wont got a confirmation and a ship name for you, it takes the them about 30 seconds to look it up and they tend to have the app open on their PC's all the time. Maybe your car missed the first 2 ships like mine did and is on the Glovis Crystal?

I think they're just bone idle, regardless of the ship it's on.

Congrats, that's pretty good going compared to some people on here, esp the time from built to delivered (about 6 weeks), mine was built just over 4 weeks ago and is only just on a ship (which is docked at Durban in SA) so you did well there!

We keep buying them , despite the wait. VW would have to change their game if it was a deal breaker for everyone. BMW will build and deliver any car in their range except a proper M model in less than 8 weeks. Pilty I don't like them enough to buy one.

So i was surprised to have my dealer call me today to advise my car has actually turned up and is currently being cleaned ready for me pick up later.

Currently in Reading for work so got a nice 3 hour journey up and 3 hour back but I'm sure I'll enjoy the journey back

Oh fyi my tracker still says its at sea
