He couldn’t tell me when I could pick it up though as when I ordered mine (Feb 2018) I managed to get the years free insurance, which they don’t do anymore. He reckons that alone can take up to three days.
My tracker is also still on 5b.
Can’t believe I’ll be driving around in it soon, was sure it was a myth
Hi EmmaBx
interesting. I emailed my dealer as they have promised some form of compensation for the time my car is taking to reach me after ordering last March and told delivery would be June poss July same year. Also told the offer inc 1yr free insurance. Told a month later it was a mistake coupled with the 1st of many delivery date let downs. I suggested they honored the free insurance by way of compensation. 2 days later and still no reply. This is the type of treatment I have received ever since going into VW and ordering car. Seems they just don't care

Hey Dack1983...6weeks...you waited only 6 weeks for your car ? And seeing those alloys parked so close to the kerb making me shudder lol
well done for getting yours. I heard its a lovely car to drive, many times on here. When I ordered mine last March, they didn't have one to test drive, so took me out in a golf gti dsg.

The delay on the free insurance could be down to the insurer who underwrites VW’s free insurance scheme on the Polo rather than the dealer. However, common courtesy on the dealer’s part would be to provide you with an update on the insurance, even if it was just a holding response of “we’re waiting for the underwriters to confirm they’ll honour a year’s free insurance cover”.

Please excuse the crap photo.

I agree
Dealer should out of courtesy confirm they are going down the free insurance route but waiting for the underwriters

Anyone else who has recently collected their car, has yours come up on the app? i.e. when you put in the reg? My app or insurance app isnt recognising the reg yet in order for me to swap my insurance over.

If traffic is favourable I may make it back up north from Swindon early so maybe I’ll get to see the car before the end of the day. With mention of “do not wash” I’d previously asked the dealer to leave the transport wrappers on and leave it untouched, as it’s booked in with a 3rd party detailer later this month (W/c 20th), for a full interior and exterior new car prep inc removing, polishing, and ceramic coating of the wheels.
I was preparing to get it to the detailer with the wrapping on. But it seems as part of the PDI they need to remove the wrapper to inspect the paint in case of flaws etc (VW paint is well known for orange peel effect), but once removed they can’t refit them.
Let’s hope they don’t wash or buff the paintwork.

Hooligaani wrote: Sun Apr 28, 2019 4:19 pm First post here, so here goes.

I'm trading in my 2yr old GTD Variant, didn't want to get rid of it really but taxes up here are awful and I'll no longer need a large diesel car. Anyway I went for an informal chat with my dealer and he looked at the listings. He found a GTI that was available and already on the boat heading for Europe. Spec is GTI, reef blue, 18" wheels, nav, beats audio and a few other small things. I wasn't really happy with the colour but he said we can order from the factory but waiting time is about 7 months.

I thought he was taking the mick because he wanted to get that deal done, looks like the waiting times are huge.

Glad I took his offer, I expect to see it here in about a month.
Nice spec and very exciting - hope you enjoy! :)

My sales person emailed yesterday stating that my car was at a UK port, next thing I know I get an email today telling me that my car would be with them by Thursday evening so can I collect it Friday.

These final steps happened to fast for me, I’ll share a picture when I get it.

I ordered it August Bank holiday, they were honest to me and said I was looking at the end of May delivery so they are technically early. Still a fair wait though.

Same for me mate on the VW app, saying that it was still hadn’t updated beyond arrived in the UK after I’d picked it up  I arranged my own insurance so no issues with that.
