Could still be up to 2 weeks before I get it though.
I got a similar email update from the dealer on the weds 24th, so I spoke to them and they stated that it’s around 10 days for delivery, it was delivered the following Tuesday (last week).
I’d initially intended to collect it today, but due to delays doing the PDI, and my questioning the spec, it’s now going to be next Saturday when I collect my car. Which tbh suits my plans as it’ll only be 1 week before I’d intended to take it to the detailer for a new car prep, (polishing, ceramic coating etc).

Meanwhile I’ve been looking at sourcing a set of steel rims that I can fit either winter tyres onto, or when I get a set of Michelin P4’s fitted put the horrendous tyres that the car comes with (to keep as spares) and carry 1 should I head down to Murcia and beyond. However I’m drawing a blank in my search for alternative rims. Spare Brescia rims are around £240 a piece

How vital is detailing / new car prep?
Seems most people here get it done.

^ £240 for a spare Brescua doesn't sound too bad. Saying that though, if diamond cut alloys aren't suitable as winter wheels (which they aren't - VW even state this), they shouldn't be selling cars with diamond wheels, they should only be selling diamond cut alloys as aftermarket accessory summer wheels.

Michelin PS4 are cheap again at Costco. Will be getting a set for the incoming 2nd GTI+ before they go off offer. They're about £98.50 each, plus £80 discount for a set of 4.

Collected the car this morning. Have only done about 15 miles so far but I absolutely love it. Feels incredible to drive and definitely plenty of power.

I've noticed there's a few water spots on the car, I'm guessing it's had a quick wash (as I expected). Quite tempted to take it to get detailed and polished properly.

I've posted some photos in the photo thread if anyone wants to have a look. :)

Definitely worth the wait for those who are waiting.

PS - Thanks monkeyhanger for the advice regarding the car. Very happy I went for the GTI+ :)

Is the GTI+ supposed to come with an armrest? Mine definitely doesn't have one!

Depends on how OCD you are about keeping the car clean. There is certainly some truth in that the paint on a new car isn’t perfect, with buffer trails, overspray, Orange peel and other faults. It’s.
It not unusual for paint on cars to be touched up or repairs carried out due to damage Intransit before being dispatched to the dealer. I’m aware of new cars being rebodied before being delivered because of the damage to them.
Also a lot depends on how the car is used, some may empty the car when the rubbish or burger wrappers start overflowing and falling out the doors. Likewise how you wash and take care of the car, those £5 car washes will ruin the paintwork in weeks, red hot ferrous particles generated from your brake discs will embed themselves into the paint of the wheels and spoil the look, using a fall out remover during your wash routine will chemically dissolve the iron particles. How you wash you car by hand can effect the finish. Look up the two buckets method on washing your car. Invest in some decent equipment for washing and cleaning.
If the car is on a PCP deal then the condition of the car May effect the residual value of the car at the end of the contract..
I would never pay the dealer to apply ceramic paint protection due to the the way it’s done by them. A ceramic coating needs to cure for 24hrs before being exposed to the elements, also having a car professionally detailed isn’t cheap, for an idea of the pricing structure used by Gtechiq accredited detailer see https://gtechniq.com/service/ A decent job on a small car will take 2-3 days work and cost anywhere between £800-£1200 depending on what you want doing. I’ve had Price quotes ranging from £450 Just for a single stage polish + ceramic coating, £750+ for single stage polish + ceramic coating + wheels & calipers polished & coated. Then if you want engine bay cleaner than your dinner plate, and the interior protected with something more than scotchguard your gonna have to budget for that too.
If your going to consider having your car detailed, make sure whoever you choose is a member of the PVD (professional valeted and detailer association) this is the trade body of accredited detailers. There are many detailers scattered around the country so you won’t be far from one. But there are a lot of cowboys too, so choose wisely.
Personally I’m a self confessed detailing fanatic, so I’m having the full month done (single stage polish, ceramic coating, ceramic on exterior glass, wheels & calipers, then engine bay, and interior will be cleaned and treated). But in the grand scheme of it, the cost of detailing my car is only 3.5% of the total cost of what I’m paying for it.

Take a look at the YouTube channel “Whitedetails” https://m.youtube.com/whitedetails?uid= ... M4BR3sPcHQ for an idea what can be done to turn a turd into a diamond  the Vlog’s of the 214k miles Range Rover and the £1M Aston Martin shooting break are worth a look.
This is also the guy who is detailing mine, luckily I thought ahead as his wait list is around 4-5 months so I planned ahead to book my slot, albeit I was starting to panic due to the delay in getting the car being so close to the detailing date ( <1 week> ).

Mine has a centre console armrest

Why not ?
You’ve spent a lot of money, if you can afford it do it.

Yes, unless VW pulled it fir MY19 changes. I'm sure it should still be there because I'm also sure(ish) that the MY19 changes were to add twin USB ports to the rear of the armrest for the benefit of the rear passengers. The other change was illuminated sill guards like the MK7 Golf, but yours look the same as my unlit ones on my red MY18 non-GPF GTI+.

Can you confirm yours light up (maybe only in the dark if linked to the light sensor for auto lights)?

Arm rest directly behind the handbrake lever, between the front seats has an extendable (but not ratchet height adjustable) lid,

If you don't have an arm rest, I'd suspect a misbuild. Its an easy retro fit for the dealership if they need to put one in. It isn't standard equipment on the non+ GTI.

You do seem to have plenty of GTI+ specific kit. Do you have auto lights and wipers, keyless, LED headlights? I have seen that you have the virtual dash (standard on the plus).

S_94: Check your equipment for the following items that are standard on the plus but not the non-plus GTI:-

ACC
Auto lights and wipers
Virtual Cockpit TFT Dash
Rear heavy tint glass (back doors and boot lid)
Armrest
Folding wing mirrors
Auto dimming rear view mirror
Keyless
LED Headlights

Hi mate.

I've checked all of those things and I've got everything listed minus the armrest. Regarding the sill guards I'm currently parked up and it's extremely bright so they don't look like they're lighting up (turning lights on manually from Auto doesn't seem to change anything). Will check that later when it's dark though.

I've attached a photo of what's behind my handbrake.

The upholstered pad between the front seats above the handbrake and cup holders in the picture in your last post looks like the armrest to me - it’s the same as the armrest in the GTI+ in the picture below;

In regards to the illuminated door sills, not sure they're present..
Didn't see any illumination from mine the other night.
