LeMeph wrote:Legend! Congratualtions sir .Having the cams put in while the engine is out then?

God i envy you lol. :P
It's an 8valve m8 :p so it's just 1 cam being swaped  lol

But yes, gonna do some more work to the engine while it's out, reparing the clutch (gonna try to fit a GTI one, including pressuregroup and lightening the flywheel--> less loss of performance in the transmission, more power ont he wheels  ), installing the new Schrick cam and my already finished Glf mk3 1600 engine inletmanifold + flowed and polished injectorhousing+throttle, hopeing for some more BHP's there  :D

Also thinking of painting the entire engine black, it aint that good lookin right now. Also installing the senders for my oiltemperature and oilpressure gauges.

Lot to do, but tomorrow it all starts, then I'll be taking the engine out with a m8 of mine, starting early as possible, to do as much work in 1 day as possible 8)

I'll keep you all posted!

Picked up the engine&interior-less mk4 yesterday @ JL Tuning:
Image

Image

Delivered it to my painters, they started the further demontage yesterday, hopefully starting the sanding today 8)

Cleaned my front bumper this morning, got rid of the hole for towing the mk4, f*ck that hole, if I need some towing, I'll just screw off the bumper

Image

Gonna visit my painters tonight to talk some stuff through about what I want to have done on the mk4, and off course to see if they're working hard enough

Brought a quick visit to the paintshop just an hour ago, mk4 is completely stripped now, all doors, boot, hood, windows are all out:

Image

They found out that I had some unwanted free-riders with me, a mouse-nest next to the interiorfilter and the ECU
Image

Next tuesday I'm paying another visit to check the progress, making some pics then ;)
Pretty f*cked I can't do anything to the mk4 myself right now :x that while my hands are itching more then ever

it will be worth the wait. I for one can't wait to see the car back together in its new colour.

It's nice to watch a car over a year or so and watch it progress.

Visited the paintshop again last tuesdaynight, they made some good progress! 8)

Half-cleaned trunk (badgeless and handle-less)

Cleaned roof (no antenna anymore, gonna stick one on the inside of my front window):

Cleaned those watergutters under the rearlights, and those markings for the car-jack on the sides:

Last wednesday all small parts were sprayed in the final colour, and today the total car will get it's new colour on it! :D

Think I'm gonna call the lads this afternoon to see if it's possible to shoot some pics tonight 8)

Like last weeks I went to visit the paintshop this tuesday :D

To put is short, Jarno walked out with a massive grin on his face B) The lose parts are already done (bumpers, doors, boot and bonnet etc.), the body was meant to be done last thursday, but due to the high tempetures here in HOlland that day it was delayed till today.

But pictures always say more . . .

The door I use, in final colour:

The door I never use:

The rearbumper (under a TL-lamp):

And this is how I like to see it, two professionals working on my mk4! :P:
Image

Cabine shut, left it to dry the degreasing cleaner, and waiting to get it painted. I wasn't around anymore when they stared, had other stuff to do, but can't wait to see the full body in colour!:

Planning: on monday and tuesday they fit all parts back in, then I can collect it again on wednesday next week! :D 8)

Thanx people! :D

Had a nice Polo-day today, this morning started early, at 8 o'clock on the doorstep of JL Tuning. Took off most of the "bigger" engine parts, and first checked the gearbox and transmission, since that was the thing that broke and started the whole idea to take out the engine and paint the whole car :D

Gearbox appears to work perfect, no noices or what so ever, the only problem which made sure I couldn't use my clutch was this:

Image

I f*cked my clutchplate, so ordered a new one, getting the flywheel lightened in the process B)

Cleaned out the transmission side of the gearbox:
Image

Exhaustmanifold and inletmanifold taken off, replacing the inlet by a Golf mk3 1.6 inletmanifold I have lying around, which gives more airflow
Image

"empty" engineblock, big chance that I'm gonna be taking the cilinderhead off too, thinking of "moddin'" that also

visited the paintshop last night, and I aint disappointed B)

mirros and B-styles are matt-balck B)

Picking it up thursday instead of wednesday, this gives the ads some more "air" during putting the car back together, and then starts all the fun of my work putting it together :D 8)

good progress!

when you change the inlet manifold, do you need to remap the car or is it a case that you just have more air available and the engine compensates?

car looks fantastic, have you done many bodywork modifications?
