Theres a nice pioneer one I was looking at, but Blaupunkt make a really good factory look one with a screen and everything.

do you know which one that factory looking one is?

I was just trying to find it, but the website is down atm. I think Halfords sell it - its really nice looking, and works a treat (i used one in a mates car last month when I was visiting him :P).

The MFD (the vw one) is supposed to be pretty good. Has all the bells and whistles, plus has the red illumination like our standard beta or gamma HU's

I'd be interested to see the blaupunkt one too, not something i'd be looking to buy for a couple of months but its nice to investigate!

The rest of the car is lit in red though isnt it :P I'm pretty sure the one I had a few weeks back had red illumination on all the dials and buttons etc (minus the speedometer being the normal snazzy blue)

I will try and find out some more info when the website comes back online :)

I've been eyeing up head-units as well but because the polo has such a sloped dash the unit would need to stay flush with it to not look stupid. On top of that it has to have the blue illumination like you said.. This is my answer:
