Don't quite get all this hate for the Car-Net app. I was advised, for the 'paltry sum of £100', to go for it. It's obviously software based so as new features become available they'll be uploaded as firmware updates. I'd certainly rather have it on the car than not.

And a lot more up to date than VW Satnav! (Subject to 3/4G) :)

Agreed, I think it's awesome. The only slight complaint I'd have is Maps not showing speed camera warnings but other than that it's been superb - easily worth the £100 and will no doubt get better over time.

And so it begins. Allegedly March delivery. Who wants to place bets on April? :)

I'm feeling for you all, I had my car within 3 weeks of ordering it as there was apparently one already in stock or something, even though I should have had to wait 3 months.

On another note I got the car to spin up in 1st and 2nd in the snow today and not once did my light flash at me

Just got back from having my gti on a rolling road

I have to say that the sport button changes very little on the graph.

But on the other hand I think it made decent power which I'll compare to what Apr got on their rollers once the release the map they have.

As I'm aware, the Sports button would only have an effect on the DSG models (in terms of measured torque/power) as it is supposed to alter the gear change profile.

On the manuals it only really makes the throttle pedal more responsive so shouldn't really have any effect on the power curve etc.

Is the sport button the new version of go faster stripes?? In fairness it does firm up the suspension and any car with good suspension will go at a good rate of knots over something overpowered with poor wallowing cornering.

Yes you could conclude that.

Especially as it also provides a false engine noise!

The damper adjustment is the only useful effect of the button (on manuals) and I do make good use of it on mine.

And what were the figures?!

It has an effect on both the manual and the dsg. All it does is increase the torque earlier in the revs and maybe hold it later.

For those who want to know it made 165bhp 173ft/lbs at the wheels

Seems a little way short of the claimed 189 bhp and 236 lb/ft? Have you got the DSG?

Nah that's a decent amount at the wheels.

I've got a manual.

One thing that is noted is that it really does run out of puff at about 5500rpm.

Ah OK - I've no idea how quoted BHP figures translate to actual power at the wheels so this is useful to know. The 5500 rpm figure's a bit of a surprise as mine still feels as if it's accelerating hard at 6000 rpm - it could just be forward momentum I guess.

Keep the info coming! Always eager for verifiable figures 8)
