Hoping to do a bit o' wet sanding sometime in the next week. the boyfriend has a mini and another car booked in next weekend for a detail, but im hoping he'll find the time to do my car. theres a certain massive stone chip by the side of the grill thats been there for ages, but its starting to drive me nuts.
also hoping to get my mitts on his Swissvax Best of Show, itll be a bit of a job cos at something like £145 a pot, he's being precious with it. so i may have to settle for Dodo Juice or some collinite. either way the polos getting some lovin'

I got my trim from a chap on club lupo. It's much better quality then the one on eBay. Altho it's not as red as when I first got it, it's not yet gone pink. So has already outlasted all of the red trims i brought on eBay.

might be worth keeping an eye on it incase he gets anymore.

i dont know where is read it (probably that thread actually lol) but somewhere it said something about toy models. there was a trim on toy models that some people used. if you wanna try out something different from the ebay rubbish or halfords red tape. it might be worth looking at trims for that. sounds odd. but im sure i read it somewhere that there is something useable

haah my fave wax is Nuba Wax. cheap easy to use, and pretty good results. i got some last year at japfest and loved it. but i cant be asked to buy more when i can just nick some of jacks lol.

Things arnt looking great for my dear little polo at the moment

Noticed an odd noise on my way to work Friday, so I got Jack to take a look that night, he started listing things which needed doing (which included a tail light bulb being out) 
So he got me to take GTI down to VW, where he got Jase one of the Techs to give it a once over. 
He listed a few bits that need doing to get rid of the noise, as well as a few bits that I should do whilst I'm at it.

• Front Wheel Bearings
• Uprated top mounts
• Drive Shafts
• Lower arm Bushes
• track rod ends
• Anti roll bars 
• springs & shocks
 • CV Boot (drivers side this time)

Plus bits I want to do cos I really should; 
• custom hidden exhaust
• door card clips
• tyres
• Oil (winter change)
• Oil filter (winter change) 
• Clutch  


I could tell it was gonna be a bad day as soon as I went to change the bulb this morning to find the glass had separated from the base of the bulb, leaving the base in the holder. Argh. 

I've priced up some bit so far and it's come to £597 and that's with jacks discount (not including vat) 
And I still have at least 6 very expensive things to price up.

Everyone's telling me not to bother. 
To buy another car, as Its pointless money spending it on the Polo as i'll never get it back out of the car (these bits will probably cost more then some cheap GTIs for sale ATM) And once all those problems are fixed, I'll probably end up with a whole bunch more. 
I love the car and don't really see myself in the near future getting rid of it- So not getting my money back selling wise, doesn't bother me. 
The problem is I will have to borrow the money from some where. And I don't want to still be paying that back when something else goes stupidly wrong with him. 
I don't know I'm trying to see the silver lining, but there doesn't seem to be one. 
Infact the only positive thing is; thank god I can get all the work done  by the techs for v cheap, if not for free. 

I'm really rather heart broken. I get attached to my cars as it is. But the GTI holds soo much sentimental value for me :'(

I know the feeling, prioritise the work love if it doesn't NEED doing don't do it at the moment. I'm sure there's a couple of things you could get away with! sacrafices

I would really get the bits done and then a nice new set of wheels and it will be lovely again....!

All cars need up keep...... Go for it, only live once n all that.!

I think I'll leave the back box for now. As thats around £300 that doesn't Reeeeaaaallly need to be spent.
Theres things like driveshaft (about £125 from VW) which technically I only need the one of. But that as I'm doing one I might as well do both. But it's quite a bit for something that doesn't Need doing.....but might in the future I guess. O god.

In all fairness I knew this day was coming. And in a dream world I'd hand the car over to VW and tell them to do anything to the car that needs doing, every little bolt that has the tiniest Mark, get rid of it.
But right now I'm in such a sucky situation.
When I first agreed to buy the car, I was earning decent dollar. But by the time he became mine, work cut everyone's hours (I now earn less then most chavs living off benefits) If I was still earning a good amount then I wouldn't even think twice. Id probably already have everything on order. Unfortunately where I live most jobs seem to be careers for the elderly or accountant jobs.
At least jack has stopped trying to convince me to buy a new car haha
O well best go find out the pin number for the old credit card

Everyone goes through this stage with their Polos. Mine's just hit 102k, and its had its fair share of colourful abuse hurled at it from myself in the past. Take the past two weeks for example. The clutch (which has barely covered.. 3k) went t**s up, and I picked up a brand new sachs kit for £120, and fitted that in myself with help from a friend. Then, alternator dies out a few days later. AA wouldnt tow me home (apparently I need Relay for that, and they wanted £108 ), so I was stuck in the middle of London at 3am, and decided to sleep in the car and get mum to pick me up in the morning when she woke up. Next day, picked up a second hand jobbie from club-polo, came the next day, cost £34 and its running happily now. Minus the whole I-REFUSE-TO-BEHAVE-IF-YOU-DONT-LET-ME-IDLE-FOR-30-SECONDS-ROUTINE..

Would I sell the car? Never in a million years.

What you changed to try and cure your problem??? Sounds like some sort of temperature sensor or cat sensor????

Why exactly do you need a driveshaft verity!? these don't break.... Its cheaper to just replace the consumable parts being the inner and outer CV joints!!

I've gone through two already

Sorry to hear the polos not doing well. Mine's in a bit of a state at the moment aswell.

Just do bits at a time when possible until its all done.

Another panic light that turns out to be a brake light switch luckily but still crap....

My EPC light came on today! I switched off the car, started it back up again, and it disappeared though.. It must be toying with my emotions again
