New GTI + delivery

Post by Blackpug »

Live chat told me which ship previous cars were on. Dealer can also tell you. I’ve seen the page on their system with all the details of my car on it.

Has anyone on here had there car arrive at Emden without ever being logged as on a ship?
Yes.

Logically it should have been and I hope it was but as logic doesn’t appear to be VW’s strong point. I also would have expected the 5b notification this morning the same as you if it was. I’ll check with my dealer though.

My dealer has checked their system and said there is no ship listed next to my car. He also used marine traffic.com to guess that it might have been on the Morning Cara or is on the Hoegh Trooper. I love the accuracy.

Never mind, I haven’t waited as long as some so can’t complain too much.

The dealer told me they roughly expect 4-6 week delivery times from build. We are currently on the end of week 5 from the build and apparently, it has only just left Emden...
Well mine was built 6th April and I finally get it this first week of June.

Well it’ll be over a year from the time I ordered to the time I’ll eventually receive it but from reports of other owners on this forum it sounds like it is well worth the wait

I too had some good news this morning. Received a tracker message saying my car has reached "stage 5a - in transit: left the factory". I placed my order mid June 2018. Looks like, for some of us that have been waiting nearly a year or more, the end is finally in sight!

I'm still waiting for my stage 5b, 5c, 6 and 7 notifications and I've had the car 2.5 weeks! At this stage I'd rely more on your dealership keeping you up to date.

I’ve had confirmation this morning from the dealer that mine wasn’t on the Morning Cara. Let’s hope it’s on the next ship.

Sorry to hear that, there have been a couple of vehicle carriers heading clockwise from Port Elizabeth since the Morning Cara left, Grand Duke was one.

Perhaps it’s because yours was ordered before mine but who knows. I’ve been keeping an eye on a few, including the Grand Duke. It gets there when it gets there though, I’ll just keep waiting like everyone else. At least I know the car is built and in transit so that’s a good start.

I was going to order but luckily there was quite a few in the UK VW network. I wasn’t that bothered about colour but didn’t want red or black (previous cars). Had to be a Gti+ though with Brecias and winter pack. Got a white with black roof within 7 days. [emoji106]

I spent a couple of hours early this morning washing the car and found the gaps between the Brecias spokes big enough to enable me to reach through with a wash mitt to clean the drums and calipers
