Easier than the parabolicas on the 6C.
Looking forward to that.

Quick question for those who have their cars, how long after your car arrived in the UK did you actually pick your cars up? Just wondering how long I might have to wait, my car has ben in Grimsby since Friday afternoon............

Thanks for that, so 9 days from arriving at port to get to your dealer, wishfulthinking on my part then to have it for this weekend!

Quick question. I have ordered my polo gti+ in December 2018. Still no update on build week or how it's getting on, wanted to find out how long people have been waiting for and how long i should be expecting until it turns up? Cheers

I've been waiting a year for mine. Ordered mid June 2018 and only just received a 5a, built and in transit. Some of us have waited even longer :( From other posts it appears as though cars are beginning to move quicker now so hopefully you won't have to wait as longs I have.

Did you order any extras?
I'm wondering if they have churned out some stock orders before dealing with customised models.
I ordered a standard gti+ in July last year and took ownership about 3 weeks ago.

Trantor wrote: Sat Jun 01, 2019 10:53 pm I too had some good news this morning. Received a tracker message saying my car has reached "stage 5a - in transit: left the factory". I placed my order mid June 2018. Looks like, for some of us that have been waiting nearly a year or more, the end is finally in sight!
I'm still waiting for my stage 5b, 5c, 6 and 7 notifications and I've had the car 2.5 weeks! At this stage I'd rely more on your dealership keeping you up to date.
Thanks monkeyhanger. Initially didn't know who to believe as dealer said car was scheduled to be built mid May but message from tracker said build week 3rd June. Then on 1st June I get a 5a message from the tracker. Given your tracker experience and mine, as you say, I'll believe the dealer!

Yes. Sun roof, sat nav, winter pack, reversing camera. Everything else is standard GTI+. There's been numerous speculation about reasons for extended delivery ranging from WLTP, factory shutdowns and supply issues of 18" wheels and sun roof. Who knows! Having to wait a year for a Polo, GTI or not, is excessive to say the least! Wife recently ordered a new High Up! 90 and got it within 2 weeks! Cheered me up (no pun intended) no end  For anyone interested I can highly recommend the Up! 90.

Building cars in South Africa for the European market isn't exactly convenient for the customer.

Convenience doesn't register with car manufacturers.
Some European car manufacturers were 'flat-packing' their cars in Europe and sending them to China for final assembly.
Honestly, the hassle/time/pollution involved in that, but all they care about is cost and they reckon it's worth it.
But why should they care when people are willing to wait 9 months or more for a relatively humdrum car like the Polo? :?:
In fact, the really weird thing about car buyers is that some people view a long wait as a good thing!! :?
It's marketing genius to make people think waiting is a sign of quality/desirability/whatever.
It's mental.

After a couple of weeks waiting I’ve taken delivery of a new spare Brescia rim that I ordered from VolkswagonspartsUK https://www.volkswagenpartsuk.co.uk/par ... -machined/ and tbh on initial inspection I can’t tell the difference from the ones fitted to the car
