come on, labour isnt socialist any more, they're just f**king wacko. mainly because of the pscyhopath that's at the helm and the associate lesser nutters gathered round him who would probably be well behaved without his bad example.

so what suggestions can people make on countries that are unlikely to follow similar crazy nutso lines?

I'm hoping for a start, republic of ireland, as it's pretty close and cheap, speaks english etc....... though my confidence may not be too high. Germany? (oh the irony) France???? Australia, maybe the northern territories (from a drivers point of view only - no posted speed limit on a lot of roads, as the idea is to get the hell from start to destination in as little time in the searing heat as possible)...... or anywhere really (ignoring the 100kmh blanket limit)..... hmmm

China bizarrely enough looks like a decent up and coming place to move to, if they get those pellet-bed nuclear reactors and the big-ass hydroelectric plant sorted they'll be living the electric/hydrogen economy dream. And their stance on personal freedom is at least open and long established, it doesnt look so bad there so long as you toe the party line...... all depends if they decide to get sour on other folk, and you have to go along or risk being locked up. Not that there'll be any difference, but you can at least play the politics and see if "our" own foreign secretary can spring you.

get a double trailer hook up. according to the DVLA accident statistics thing i linked a while ago, i remember seeing that the offical speed limit for those is 40mph on Motorways and 20mph on all other roads. Drive that contraption at the legal limit. No faster. No exceptions. If police pull you up for obstruction, ask them to examine the law on your vehicle. You were, in fact, driving as fast as you are legally allowed to do. Indeed, the law is an ass.

It wouldn't take all too many people driving these things to cause major tailbacks on a lot of routes.

Like the fuel protests, but this time, it's 100% legal and nothing can be done about it apart from put you under house arrest for spurious reasons (for that matter, sign your property and belongings over to someone else for the duration, so you are effectively homeless / of no fixed abode --- house arrest THAT)

two vehicles like that side by side along many 2-lane motorways (at 40..) or dual carriageways (at 20!)..... with banners....... sorted

how much does it cost to get a towbar fitted these days?


PS Pro democracy rally on saturday the 19th this month (2 days after st patricks, for those of you following the beer calendar), in london. "celebrating" the 2nd anniversary of the commencement of the iraq offensive. also with a side order of anti-anti-terrorist-bill protest. dont know the full details, but come on down. wear your dynamite waistcoat.

there seems to be a whole lot of people against all this bullcrap than are for it, so perhaps its time an "orange revolution" (see: ukraine) of our own took place.

PPS the motorway speed limit in ireland went up to 120k (75mph) when they decimalised their roads ..... although most of their country lanes went down to 80k (50mph) it's probably unenforcable most places and is probably more of an advisory thing to make you think a little harder about how quick you are going on a wholly unsuitable road. Quite encouraging.

i'm personally hyped up enough (somewhere between crying and wanting to be sick) to start a new political party ..... the common f***ing sense party .... and, funding??? as one guy in america is already proposing... rather than get big donations, just appeal to every potential voter who's behind your policies, for a quid (well... a fiver) to aid the campaign...

That's really, truely scary.. I just pray that for once the idiotic general public will realise quite how much of an infringement on liberties this is and will do something about it I'm seriously worried now that within my lifetime the entire world will adopt this ridiculous big brother policy and there will actually be nowhere left to go to avoid being spied on...

it all comes back to a matter of kings and serfs... things were as bad here before the industrial revolution really. people may not like the manic street preachers but they do a good line in social quoteology.....

well, this crap pile of a bill got through, but not without some "major" changes (ok, ok.. some "changes" ), and something that looks like a sunset clause, smells like a sunset clause, but walks like a grudging compromise that isnt quite a real sunset clause.

it's eased some of my fears, not all, but some. by the time the year has gone by and it's time for this to be renewed our government may well be a much different shape however - why did labour push for it to come round in march 06 rather than november 05? what difference would december, january, february make? it still reeks of dodginess, but of a slightly less frightening kind

especially with today's relevations of how scant the evidence was that sent us to war with iraq. one A4 page?! sexed-up or otherwise, one page does not a dossier make. it hardly makes a memo... there's some DEEP lies going on, so how can we trust ANYTHING this government says? American presidents have been put on trial or even ousted midterm for less.

well, we can only pray for some kind of wierd backlash at the polls which sees the monster raving loony party take the helm as people become so disinfranchised with all 3 major parties (yes, "all 3" not "both") and start going much more independent
