Well in mate. Hope your happy with it.

That's the one thing that worries me about an aftermarket exhaust. The noise at motorway speeds.

The Polo revs quit high at 70-80mph so i'd be wanting something mega quiet. 8)

Yes, I've found this out to my cost

At 80mph in top, the Polo revs at around 4000 give or take a couple of hundred revs or so. This requires a bit of throttle to hold the speed, and so the exhaust I've got gets very loud IMO. As I say, its about 3 or maybe even 4 times louder, and has a much deeper note now than it did as standard!

To this end I have the car booked in on Wednesday morning with the Powerflow chap to have the centre section chopped out and replaced with something *much* quieter. Like you Del I want to hold motorway speeds and not be deafened!

Also, tomorrow after cleaning the car (again) I'll get some pics taken of the 'zorst. I need to get a mate round and have him fire up the car and rev it a bit whilst I record teh vid on my phone, try and give you guys an idea of how it is at the moment!

But apart from the sound and volume (I've been told it sounds like I have a hole in the exhaust!) the system is really well done, very tidy and professional. Top work by the chap in Stafford, I'd recommend him for sure :)

Cool mate.

Let us know how you get on with centre section. 8)

Right then. Couple of pics as promised - taken whilst the car is parked up, I don't have a ramp or anything at my disposal! Had to use my phone as the 'rents have taken the digi camera on holiday...

This second pic is lightened a bit to help you see the centre section there

And although I washed the car quickly this afternoon,I obviously haven't done a very good job (look at the first pic)

I need to ask on Wednesday whether or not that tailpipe is going to get the rear bumper warm enough to cause any kind of damage but I don't think I'll have a problem... I hope!

Looks great mate.

Bumper should be fine it actually looks as if it sits further away from it than the standard one.

Hi

Just wondering does cat-back mean with a catalytic converter? If so then the gain in BHP must be quite small compare to the standard one, but having a catalytic converter on the new exhaust does make things easier when the MOT is due which is good. :)

Just to let everyone know if you don’t already. You only get one working day now to sort out your car if it doesn’t pass.

I think so yeah, basically it's all in the name "Catback" starts at the cat and goes back

^ as above :)

I decided it was pretty pointless for me to mess about with a cat bypass pipe or a complete removal of the cat, can't be doing with the extra hassle come MOT time!

As for power gains, yeah you're quite right - negligible at best - maybe 3 or 4bhp at the very most. The new exhaust note and lifetime guarantee are nice to have though

I have been thinking about changing my exhaust but I would prefer it slight quieter to some of them that are about. After all you don’t want to set every car alarm off when you go in a car park. Well would be fun I guess just once :D

How is your exhaust sounding now then Si? I guess you need an induction kit as well too gain a bit more power. Do you have one? Modified madness do you have an exhaust fitted?

Thanks for the info

Silverblue, the exhaust now sounds almost standard, with a deeper note at idle, and once the car is warm it has a nice growl through the mid range instead of the OTT droning that happened originally. The only way to describe it properly is to get a vid of it in action - maybe when I'm at Ultimate Dubs...

But the bottom line is I'm really really happy with it now, it's exactly what I wanted - sportier note which isn't too OTT and isn't too loud at motorway speeds. I haven't got an induction kit, but would like a BMC because once the revs rise above about 4000 the engine note takes over and I'm beginning to think that it would be good to have it sound a little meatier :D

I only set off one car alarm, when the exhaust was in it's first state of trim, as mentioned previously in this thread!

Well chuffed though - will ask the Powerflow guy tomorrow, if someone else wanted an identical system could he tell another Powerflow dealer exactly what the system spec is
