As I said above, looking on the DVLA's website, anything registered from September 2001 onwards should be a 51 plate.
When I checked, it says that Phil's was first registered on 19th January 2001 and mine on the 26th January 2001 hence being an X Reg.
has mine got most miles on?

With regard to the main purpose of this thread........... Mines a 2001 Y plate (March 2001) and i have 76,000 on the clock... It had 47,000 on the clock when i bought it in January 2003 as it was a company car before i bought it.
With regard to Phil's prob with when his car was registered..... December 2001 should defo be a 51 plate..... Only three things i can think of to explain the car having an X plate are..........
1. Phil has mis-read the log-book..... (I very much doubt this).
2. The log-book is actually wrong..... Might be worth having a word with the DVLA to check this...... Especially as someone pointed out that the RAC site has the car as being first registered in early 2001, Which ties in with the X plate.
3. The car was registered in December 2001 but has had a private 'X' plate put on before he bought the car. (Don't forget you can make a car look older than it is but not newer)..... This theory doesn't really tie-in if the info on the RAC site is correct.
Cheers
Dave.
