sounds like you're getting a bit disillusioned with your olop!
i've had a reconditioned box before, (and as it happens, that was in my old mk 4 as well....told you it was falling apart!!!!!!!!!

i can only sympathise. im loving mine (i say this while touching wood and hunting for a rabbits foot!!!) once my gearbox ws done in the mk 4 it was fine. i will ask around at work about your noise and come back to you.

I just got my cam belt kit but didnt get a water pump, i'm guessing I need to get one!

Mines in for cambelt kit / water pump next week at VW, 36k a 2000 model.

Was considering taking mine to VW for a new cambelt kit etc but £400???????? I think i'll find someone to do it for me at that price.

My VW quoted me £355. its because the parts alone are about £200, and the rest is labour as i was told it can take anything up to 2.5 hours.
