8000k arnt actually 'brighter' than the standard oem hid bulbs. the 'k' rating of these bulbs relates to the colour temperature, not brightness. the lower end (4000k-5000k) being the closest to white light, then rising up to bluer light (6000k-8000k) and then getting purple (10000k-12000k). so actually the higher the 'k' rating, the more colour you have which actually means they will be less 'bright' than the lower 'k' rating bulbs which give off a whiter (brighter) light.
i got a pair of decent philips hid bulbs for £45 from a seller on e-bay (there is a whole thread on here somewhere that i started last year about hid bulbs/headlights)

I hate this thread

I think a hid faq is badly needed, I might write up one after my exams in April
The 8,000k are bluer so might appear brighter, but in terms of useful light 4,300k is best or 3,200k in foggy/wet conditions. 8,000k isn't good in the wet especially

8080s right, as is Nogwuy.
It's a subject that always gets people tripped up on,
But at the end of the day any HID temperature is better than Halogen, so it's just down to personnal taste.
