we found that around 50mm gives the perfect height for a 6N2 but oviously that may vary because of the size of my engine

I think I paid about £50 for all the bits needed for front and rear. That was December 2006 mind you

Ah i see not to shabby then,

I need the bit the 3 top bolts screw into, any ideas what that is called??

Think my strut brace has done in the thread on both the bolt and bolt hole?

You know the part i mean the top turrett?

The strut tower? That's part of the car, can't replace that.

Ha, yep thats the one!

Had to do some more work to the manifold today, had to move the lamba possition to the other side and back 5 inches, just so i can hopefully not cut into the loom!

Then iv still got the hastle of heating it up and bending the manifold to fit, wish i had a custom one made now!
Alot less greif for sure!

Well iv been abit busy this weekend, i removed all my rear out including my sub and found i cant live without bass lol!

So i dismantled my fli-trap sub to see how heavy all the bits were and to my surprise the sub box was SOOOOOO heavy like unreal, so i went about making my own one, here is what i did

Didnt take a picture of my template for the rear mdf sheet but....................

Sound deadning matt, vibe it is!

Image

Image

Cut the lid of the fli box as i didnt have enuough wood to make the curve

Image

Image

Image

Cut out the hole for the woofer port and then shaped it with mdf and filled with no more nails! Very good stuff!

Image

Image

Then i put it all in to see what i got and once i have trimmed it i reckon it will look nice and tidy, got a kl bit in the making for the small circle port, going to make a aluminium cover with the fli logo on it or polo.net!

Good work mate, I like it. Will be interesting to see how it sounds, often considered doing something simliar to this, but have hesitated for fear of making it sound faff.

Yeah i think il loose some sound quality i rekon but u never know it may be ok!

Im going to sound proof more like the bottom of the board aswell and cut out the bottom of my mdf sheet to match the top part of my sub lid so it is all flush but i rekon it'l be ok! Started trimming wen i got in today,

Trimming is an art, its so hard but i got it in the end, kinda lol!

I did all the hard bits first to then put a final flat sheet around the edges, real hard to get it neat i had a few attempts before sticking it down!

Image

Image

Image

Just waiting on my final flat sheet and shes ready for the install, if it all works still lol!

Im all finished now on the manifold, had all the plates welded in and i have moved the sensor to the correct possition and yes the sensor will work there as both pipes meet up way back so i still get the correct reading!

Hoping not to add wire to the lambda, :D :D :D !fitting tommorow, happy days! :D :D :D :D

Image

Image

Finished trimming my sub encloser and it looks crap so im having it done proffesionally and all my floor in the back done too, trimming is SOOOO hard around all the bits i have!

Image

Thats sealer around the edges and it failed wen i painted it matt! Trimmers here we come!

Re: Trotta's progress thread, *De-cat and manifold FITTED,PICS!*

Post by Trottagti »

WELL IM ALL MANIFOLD FITTED AND DECATED!

sOUND IS VERY RASPY RALLY CAR LOUD! will need a new back box as my cherry bomb is to loud! Need a smaller 2" or 2.5" I think!

Pics as my stages went on..

manifold bolts all shinny and ready to fit, hadto drill out the first four holes abit to get to fit tho!

Image

Then my engine with manifold off ready to fit new one, need a new gasget at this point!

Image

Then i fitted my manifold all loose first till ready to tighten up properly!

Image

Gap between the sump and manifold is super tight, all u need to do is heat up these to pipes and bend them together to get the gap better!

Image

Image

Then i fitted my new bit of stainless pipe as my decat pipe!

Image

My lamba relocation worked a treat and is all good with no cutting of wires at all just all unplugged!

I didnt have time to make a lug nut for my decat pipe to fit my other lambda sensor so i now have a engine check light but when i fit my other lambda im sure i will have no lights!

And yes its cool to be loud! for now lol! Hope i have explained clearly! Will do a how to at some point!
