The 1749vb does have a bit more lag than the 1749va would have. The vnt15 didn't really have lag it was a really punchy turbo, had some good boost but would run out of puff. The 1749vb has a larger compressor wheel, I found that I gain HP more easily with the VB.
If you have some supporting mods to curb the lag you should be ok! I have the pd160 intake and B<C flatbed filter aswell as a 63mm 2.5inch turboback decat 1 box exhaust. Will be upgrading to a 76mm downpipe into 63mm 1box exhaust soon enough

How does the pd100 CV joints/sideshafts hold up? I know i'm gonna have to uprate the clutch at the moment I hit 450nm

I've not actually heard of anyone having trouble with driveshafts, although the majority of higher powered cars appear to use the 6 speed box...

Most of the 130 have a 6speed box and they are the easy platform to start that's the only reason more
have 6 really I have been told

theres definatly an increase in lag, as the pd100 has no lag at all ive felt this straight away. howevre mine isnt re mapped to suite the new turbo yet so im not quiet sure. ive noticed that building a bit of boost and then releasing the clutch and applying the gass generously does provide quite a bit of umph.

will be fitting my new 3bar sensor on monday! Bought some stainless steel bends aswell to weld together and make up new better flowing boost pipes! Ran some logs today, everything is working 100%. My intake temps are 30*c, that's very good considering ambient temps were 28*c. My mates polo gti with revo runs 90*c intake temps.

to give my answerversion on the topictitlle...
i'm not going to say much about all this.
everyone has his own vision on those things.
let me just say, it won't be easy for the TDi to overtake a GTI... specially from standing start
here is a vid of my own car, stock Polo GTi VS Ibiza Cupra tuned to 217Hp & 400nM
http://www.streetfire.net/video/polo-gt ... 159156.htm
a GTI gets his power down way better as a TDi,
and if the GTI has a good launch, it's VERRY hard for the TDi to make that up again
PS: they guy in the cupra had got his best time while racing against me
but honestly i have to say, when The Cupra got into 4th gear he was starting to come back a tiny bit

(you can see that at the end)
if the track was 200m longer, he would have passed me

You sure your car was stock
I could see by the way the cupra smokes that it wasn't stock.
The run you had with the cupra, it looked the same when I had a run with a stock golf 6 gti dsg.
