Gearbox gone again!!!
Re: Gearbox gone again!!!
Can't disagree with you matey.Your old man is obviously in the know, ive gone by what ive learnt over the years.Clearly not to the depth as your dad as im no machinest just interested and always will be in materials and the such.Right about the drill bits, every masonary drill bit i have has a carbon/tungsten insert as the tip.Tough old bits but dosent last long when you're drilling a banks vault wall haha.

I always thought the same really though dude, I work for an oil company and the majority of our customer are either toolmakers producing drill bits or work in the medical industry making things such as replacemant hip joints and knee caps etc so I have been dragged into a metal work side of things slightly.
I always thought Stainless was one of the strongest materials out there apart from Tungsten Carbide but my dad put me in my place on that one haha. Yeah your spot on about the drill bits the majority have tungsten tips these days with a stainless shaft. I think your best sticking to the good old TNT for the bank vault though mate
saves a lot of time.

Haha unfortunately i dont think health and safety would let us use it dinamite. We'll have to settle battery hammer drills until they do,plus dinamites abit much for drilling a 2mm pilot hole on a safe lol.
