I'm keen so see how good the new Seat Ibiza Cupra Diesel is. Given engine out of the Golf tuned up to 160bhp plus sports suspension it should make for a seriously hot diesel hatch. It looks wicked aswell.
Only downside is it's likely to cost around 15k which is a lot of green for a small hatchback.

Yeah, sounds like it's gonna be really good. There's gonna be diesel and petrol versions of Seat's new Ibiza cupra. Both with engines out of the previous model of golf as far as i know. Either the 1.8 Turbo 5 cylinder tuned 180bhp or the 1.9 Turbo-diesel putting out 160 bhp. i've got a feeling that given both of these outputs the diesel may well work out to be faster, given it's likely higher torque output, under most circumstances.
No doubt it'll still sound like a tractor tho

I have beaten MK4 16v's and MK5 GTI's before, both GTI's where from a 70mph start on the motorway, I have not raced a GTI from a standin start.

on paper i think the Gti has 0-60 of 8.7seconds.
sumthing like 9secs for your TDI?
Golf engines in a lighter Ibiza body makes sense!
fast car!
prices will be sky high?

you might as well throw VWs factory figs in the bin. They always understate power and performance for insurance reasons.
You can knock a good second on the vRS 0-60 with a good driver.
(this is because the times are averaged over a number of runs and done with a half load)

this girl at my work complained about the noise of her VW Golf V 2.0 SDi.
is is because diesels run at higher pressure than petrols?
cus my 1.2 12v purrs and her SDi rattles like a tractor!
any suggestions to cure that noise?
Cheers

2 friends that had SEAT Arosa TDi's were running the same 1/4 mile times as Lupo GTis.
So the 1.9 TDi should massicre most petrol polos
