I'm not saying people can't do what they want to their own cars... I'm genuinely curious as to why. As a design engineer I don't get form over function. Function must come as a priority imo, hence why I like performance mods but not really a fan of visual ones.
ad love performance mods tbh, ad much rather have a s**t looking car like a old ka or polo and have something stupid like a Vr6 or Cossy engine in them, but atm the insurance company just laughts in my face as am only 19, so i got go for looks for now, and i couldnt really tune a 1.2 really, you need something silly to start with any way, if i was older ad sort out the performance on my car first then once am bored looks, but i just cannt atm

or why not have the best of both and do both, performance and looks thats my ideal world

My favourite sort of cars are OEM looking ones. Preferably a base model look with performance from the top end model. The sort of car you could destroy someone from the traffic lights and they're left going WTF? Polo GTI with a 1.2 base model body kit would be great fun!

Other than that I love British kit/lightweight sports cars - Ariel, Radical, Caterham, TVR etc; and my all time favourite cars, Aston Martins. But they would have to be completely OEM for me.

Drove an ariel atom few weeks back. The one with the supercharged type-r engine. Was insane :D

Anyway my mate had a 1.2 nova merit many moons ago and he dropped a 2.0 16v lump with throttle bodies in it. Was one of the best sleepers I have ever seen lol

I've never driven an Atom, would love to. Driven Caterhams and a Lotus 340R and they're great fun.

Sleepers are brilliant too. I love these 2:

Here's mine running 7.5J x 17" TD Imola in Gunmetal ET37 with 205/40/17" Falken FK452's. Won't be on the car long as I'm looking to get a set of Matt Black 8.25J x 17" ET35's soon.

Running on Weitec Hicon GT coilovers with the rear adjusters removed for the lowest drop, not too bad, should look better with the wider wheels filling the arches out a bit more.

Nothing too radical, just the optional 17" Boavista VW alloys that we specified the wife's Polo SEL with. Look quite nice I think.

Running Rota Grids in Bronze - 17" x 7.5 ET45. Looking at putting some 10-15mm spacers on the back to give a little more poke. :D
