CNK wrote:Ah, it's a pity. So even if I found a radio with component protection removed it is too difficult to connect it to my 6R..

You need to find a radio where CP has not been activated, it’s not so much difficult just expensive for all the required parts, but yes possible to work [emoji41]
if you have radio who have CP message - after they remove CP - all options gone from radio
to enable each such as BT, GPS, Voice etc .... cost $$$
so the best idea is to find radio removed directly from car and NO CONNECT TO ANY OTHER car, because they block it
or buy a one enable

Three questions if I may....
1. Where did you source the instrument cluster? I want!
2. How did you overcome component protection on the Discover Media? Again, I want!
3. Did you need to change your washer bottle for the headlight washers? If so, do you have the part numbers for the bottle and the pipework?
(I already have the loom, pump, washer pops, covers and the new bumper. These are the missing parts)
Thanks in advance!
And well done sir!!!

Certainly....
1. From TPS (make sure you’re sat down [emoji383][emoji22])
2.component protection requires a few parts to make to radio function without it activating (I’ll make a separate post)
3. I’ve not changed the bottle yet, just ran all the pipework near it, I just need to add the pump and wiring. I’m sure the part number was the same last time I checked but I don’t remember seeing an obvious location for it [emoji848]

Hi Adam
I have spoken to TPS about the 3D cluster, but they say it is coded to VIN and they need the old cluster back. Did you come up against this?
Also, just in case you haven't done it yet, the bottle is indeed different. I paid about £50 from TPS for the correct one. I'll update with part number if I find it.

Wow great work!
I too have a Vw but mine is a 2005 trendline with the T5.1 facelift.
Hybrid turbo with bigger injectors etc..
Had it nearly 10 years now and still love it. Also the wife’s got a VW Eos and my daughter has a 1.2 polo s as her 1st car.
Keep up the good work!
BJ.

Great, I couldn’t find a different part no on Etka, it’s been a while since I last looked.
Yeah I have them a VIN number, not that it makes much difference to the cluster, and I did give one back in return but it was an old low line caddy one, I knew the guy on the parts desk at VW and his only concern was that there was something in the box to give back.

Nice T5 [emoji41]
I went down that rout with my caddy (hybrid, injectors etc) and it was epic, but as it’s used as a daily for work it was t practical and if any problems were to arise it wouldn’t be as easy and quick to fix as if they were standard parts, a remap is in order when the warranty runs out tho [emoji16]

I use my T5 everyday of the week as it's my work van.
After 10 years I'm getting a bit bored with it and thinking of going the opposite way.
4motion T6 and lifting it slightly and going on journings up in the French/Swiss Alps!
Must be getting old lol

T5 climatic to Climatronic retrofit
Following this with interest, from what I see you are modifying the existing fan box by adding a new motor and new fan controller and then adding a new loom.
Is there more to this?

That does sound like fun no matter what age [emoji16], I got sick of using my modified caddy for work, it was a problem when I couldn’t get on a customers drive because it was too low [emoji23]

I bough from a company in Poland, it was a MOQ of 5, I’ll try dig out a link.

Hi Adam, on the first page you write about the WRMs and how you converted them to foldy mirrors.
Do you know if it's possible to read and write FW/SW to the WRMs?

Hi Iichel, I did not manage to convert them to folding mirror modules, it would be possible but would need many components and some programming (I guess) it’s easier to find the correct modules
