Beginning to wish I wasn't so fussy about bulbs and I'd just left the damn things alone....
Misty headlights....sounds like a country singer for goodness sake....

By the time I got home last night, the misty patch had cleared.
Might have been the strangely mild weather (11C) or might have been the heat of the headlights burning it off.
I'll keep an eye on it.

Could be a combination of both mild weather and heat - I often see mist inside after the car has been washed or in damp weather, not sure if it's the damp attracted to the cold surface? Very annoying as it looks awful. There must be a very small leak / break in the seal around the headlamp cover where if fits to the back of the lamp.

Bloody driver's side headlight was completely misted up again last night.
Cannot figure out why it's only ever the driver's side one.
It burned off on a journey, but there's still a tiny mist mark in the corner.
I'm going to remove the headlight tonight and try to figure out if there's an obvious breather being blocked when it goes back into the car.

My left side light cluster is misted. It was picked up during the service, and it will be replaced under warranty at the next service if it has not suffered damage. That last caveat is a bit odd, so it's broken, and if I break it further, they won't replace it? Perhaps they only need to replaced certain parts such as a seal for the moisture ingress repair.

I think they mean they didn't check for damage during the service, they only noted it?
So are they leaving you with a misted headlight for a year???
Interesting that yours is the passenger side, there's evidently a problem with the headlights in general.
If I need another light, I will make sure I take out the fancy bulbs, I don't want to lose any more!

Have left the car running with the lights on in the (secure) office carpark, try and burn off the mist.
Up to 8 people coming in and telling me now...
This damn car is just one form of stress after another. :D

Sorry to revive an old thread. Just wondered if there was any resolution to the most problem? I am thinking of changing my headlights but the more I’ve looked into the “mysterious mist” the more I’m worried about changing them.

Changing bulbs, you mean?
Seems to be luck of the draw with the misting, some get and some don't.
My beats and my Gti both suffer from it from time to time.

Have you tried removing the bulb & holder as if replacing the bulb and leaving it for a day or so, obviously not of its raining or damp outside....

No, misty headlights are just something else I've 'learned to live with' in the 2 x Polos I've had in 3 years.
Along with squeaky reverse brakes, bad windscreen misting etc.
