Its got every option I can think of, sunroof, heated seats, cruise control, performance pack, armrest, even climate control which I havent seen on any other examples for sale.

Initial thoughts is that it seems the perfect daily. Its fast enough and fun enough to enjoy yourself, I much prefer laughing in my polo than sweating in my m135i. It feels very similar to my old fiesta st, but a bit faster and much nicer to be in.

The steering feels great and sports button really does help change its character when driving quickly.

I averaged 40mpg on the motorway, without really trying and doing a few acceleration runs on a 2 hour journey.

All the options make it such a nice car to drive at normal speeds. The climate control is brilliant in this weather. Cruise control is a god send on the motorway. Armrest completely changes the comfort of long journeys and also gives you somewhere for your phone and wallet. And the sunroof just makes the car look and feel more expensive and really does make the cabin feel a lot bigger. It feels just like a golf, but with the handling of a tiny little polo.

After a week of ownership I love it. I dont miss the m135i power and it's just as comfortable, if not comfier to be in when just cruising around the streets and towns. The mpg is cracking for the performance on offer imo.

Things I dont like, the exhaust sound is still a bit dull (getting a cat back fitted tomorrow so that should be fun), the touchscreen infotainment is just terrible compared to the audi and bmw wheel you can get (I'll never like touchscreen in cars), and the door seals seem to be really weird. No leaks or anything, just not satisfying to open and close, it's a bit odd but the bmw had a really "satisfying" door open/close (sounds daft but it just felt premium).

As long as the dsg lasts I'm very happy. Surprised these cars go under the radar. They're the only auto hot hatch that is relatively cheap but great fun to drive, aside from the clio 220 which is made of plastic and rattles like a kids toy.

Looking forward to owning it 🙂
I came to give you advice based on what I know but seems you already made a decision. The GT that I drive undoubtedly sits in the shadow of the GTI but I'm led to believe it shares the same "sports" chassis and suspension. Certainly, I've found mine to stick to the road like pritt stick and when I first had it on occasion I'd go into a corner thinking I might lose the back end and not even getting a squeal. If your balls are big enough you'll be able to upset faster cars simply because of the confidence the Polo gives you in the corners. It's a riot.

What you said about MPG got me curious. A person I know who had a 6C GTI was saying he never got over mid 30s. I get around 48 from the GT on the motorway, low 50s if I'm driving like I've got an egg under my foot and mid 30s if I'm creaming it on the back roads. Don't think I've ever had it under 30, but then even with 150HP you don't use WOT all that often. I'm guessing GTI figures are about 5MPG lower than that across the board which is not as bad as I thought. Some days I reckon I should just have bought the GTI, but I kind of like having the underdog.

When I picked the car up there was a blue gt on the motorway that was following me and my gti didnt exactly pull away from him like I'd expect it to. It was always very close behind which was surprising. Looks like they're a great little motor.

I would've considered a gt but looking at the prices on used ones now, they're only about 1/2k cheaper than a gti so it didnt really make sense.

I like the idea of having a gt and upgrading the brakes and suspension and getting it mapped. It would be like a little sleeper gti.

The handling seems ok, the car sits a lot higher than my bmw (all small hatches seem to be too high imo) so theres a bit of body roll in the corners, but I cant believe how lively the back end can be, it's such a fun little car. The steering feel is perfect imo. Its garbage in the wet, but in the dry, once I get pilot sport 4s on it and get rid of the horrible Bridgestones I can imagine it's a right little weapon
