I always thought that Dahlback Golf was twin engined!
The stock 1.8 litre engine has been replaced by an inline five cylinder 2.1 litre Audi turbo engine with two large intercoolers. The engine develops about 600-900 hp depending on the choice of turbo and setup. To make room for the larger engine, the inner fenders had to be replaced by chrome-molybden pipes

The larger engine did not leave any space for water or oil coolers in the front of the car so these had to be moved to the back with an air intake in the roof. The car is equipped with Alcon brakes with 375 mm front rotors and 355 mm rear rotors. Thanks to the wider kit-car flares, it is possible to use 10x19" rims with Bridgestone 265/30-19 or 12x20" rims with Bridgestone 285/30-20. The overall weight of the car is about 1440 kg.
Blimey!
The rear subframe and suspension is a mix of Audi RS2 and Sport Quattro with titanium swaybars and magnesium suspension struts. The front subframe is custom built, also with titanium swaybars and magnesium suspension struts. The exhaust is built from 4.5" stainless steel pipes all the way from the turbo and back with a single muffler under the car. The transmission stems from an Audi IMSA car with a custom built final drive.

To further reduce weight, many of the stock parts have been replaced by correspondning parts made from carbon fibre. For example, the instrument panel, door trims, hood and bumpers have all been replaced by carbon fibre dittos. The stock seats have been removed in favor of Recaro carbon fibre sport seats with 6-point harness belts. All windows are made from lexan plastic.
Pretty serious bit of kit then!

Sub 4-second 0-60s are old hat, anyone seen the Dialynx Quattro doing 0-60 in 2.39 seconds at Inters 2002, now THAT's scary stuff.

*jaw hits floor* whoooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaarhh............

that must roar like an elephant.

ps bstardo (yeah i know.. ian.. but its easier this way) - i thought the fuel consumption stated was on-the-road cruising figure? Of course i'm not expecting it to do 5L to 100km when its applying 600+ horses to the tarmac!

The Dahlback car was on the cover of PVW back in '00 along with premier's berry red mk4 (alledgedly the first *properly* modded mk4.

I'll try and find the feature and scan it in.

Dubweisers MK1 is running the same engine and transmission as this car, although Hans has uprated EVERY single component on the car. By the way the body kit is a VW item widened a bit, it was origanally fitted to the VWM tarmac rally cars...

anyone with Kazaa can get loads of vids of this motor doing its thing on the track.

The red Bi-Turbo R32 was built by HGP and now by EIP (blue one) in the states.

5L to 100km would be 60 plus mpg (mental maths)

50L to 100km as I think was stated would be 6mpg (mental maths again)

If thats on road cruising consumption - I hope it's got enough torque to tow a tanker - I would have thought 18-20 mpg would be achievable on cruise

my mistake

according to old biro notes in my offical VW manual  5.0 L/100km = 57mpg (and 5.2 = 54.5..)

mind you if it was very well tuned and driven gently, say a constant 55, could it maybe acheive that?

----- after a tale told of the new volvo tractor-trailer truck cab unit that has the first >600hp engine for a road hauler... can pull an 80 ton 18 wheel trailer at 60mph... at 1100rpm... getting 45 miles to the gallon. DAMN.
