rah!

i figured what was wrong with that video of yours pete

for some reason all my softwares were thinking it was mono when it should have been stereo ---- so it all ran at half speed trying to decode it, and anything that tried to strip it keeled over backwards.

the diagnosis and fix from this came by doing a file-save in winamp and seeing the hash that resulted. fixing now, see what comes out. so far its playing thru in the background in cooledit, at about 1m40 and where there was quite a nice high-revs boom going (i'd say about 4000rpm? .... oh wait now... around 2mins... closer to 5k :D)

just do a little more geekery pokery and see ifn i cant get a full AV file sorted. the video i've made kind of..... passable. caveat with that is that it's in "3ivx" format........ hopefully any kind divx/xvid decoder should grok it as it's just regular mpg4 --- just with a friendlier encoder dialog that let me set it up to do a reasonably decent VBR. if not, then i've now got a half an idea from that of how i might make one of the other do similar goodness. (well, "not bad"ness anyway)

EDIT: well i gots the video (9.3mb) and the audio (1.7mb) and it should all go together into one happy audiovisual sandwich, except it doesnt. it saves fine, but playing it results in the video going at about 2x speed and the audio stopping after about 15 seconds. wtf?
instead.......... here petey.... have a big ass graph of your RPM telemetry, or as close as i got to it. for some reason all engine speeds below about 1600rpm have been lost :?
