My brother in law had a MK2 golf GTI 16v and I loved it, I always wanted it, When I started work the company car was a MK2 Golf Driver which pretty much ended up being mine, it started from there.

My parents never owned a VW, my dad always went for cheapy cars although my mum had a pretty cool mini once.

I recently got a CTR but only after doing a lot of searching. I bought what was to me my 'dream' car (within a budget) the only downside was that it isn't a VW, so I went out and got another polo too.

The first golf was in 1998, since then I've had 2 other golfs, 4 polos and a CTR. 8 Cars in 6 years make me worry a bit though. 3 of them bought from new.

8 cars in 6 years is nothing!. Ive had 7 cars in the last 2 and a half years! All polos! (although to be fair only one comes close to being new, all the rest were made before the advent of compulsory catalytic converters) I kept promising myself that I wouldnt buy any more but people keep crashing into my good ones :( Id have only been on my third car now if it wasnt for that stupid kid driving a mini with no insurance.

Ive only done about 1500 miles in my latest GT since I got it in september, and most of that was in the first week of ownership. Its come to the time of year where its icy roads and poor visibility so Im reluctant to drive it in anything but the best of weather conditions. (it was foggy when the guy in the mini hit me) Its a shame my mk2 has to take 2nd fiddle to it though, its a nice car in itself.

7 cars in 2 1/2 years is mighty impressive. Not that it's a competition or anything. but respect to you!
