sorry to bring this thread back to life (again), but I stumbled across some better pictures of the 1999 seat concept that the sportster's supposed to be based on:

If it finishes up anything like that, I'll be a very happy bunny
Still not sure how they'll make an aluminimum chassis for c. 15 to 16k though
I mean, drool:

i drove a ibiza sport tDI (and that thing is missing wings im telling you !!!) andafter chatting with the owner for a while i found out that some of the sport ibiza sports have rear wheel steer so since there on the same basic chassis i suppose its a possibility that the polo R18 might get somthing allong those lines
ps just ask if your not sure of what rws is

As far as I know, ALL Ibizas and Polos have Rear Wheel Steer, as they use the same platform. I can guarantee that my polo has RWS becouse I brought it to my local mechanic (the person that usually repairs my car) and we looked at it from below and saw the RWS system. I hope you undersand what I mean

Is it just me, or has it been *really quiet* on here in the last few days?
Ah well, here's some more info on the Sportster and the Polo GTI (at the bottom of the article) to tide us over...

The long-awaited 150bhp 1.8-litre turbocharged Polo GTI joins the range later this year, along with a 150bhp diesel
150?
Thought it would be 180. Especially if that PDI is boosted to 150 as well - the diesel would have a good chance in beating it in elasticity measurements.

You're right - I don't see why they woudl relaise the petrol version with just 150 - esp if the diesel alterantive might be the 150 from the Ibiza Cupra R.
Doesn't make sense - no one would buy the petrol if they look at both the torque and the power figures!!
Must be a typo - I'm still banking on 180!

A 150 TDI in a Polo

I've heard/read that it's going to be the 1.8T 150bhp and the 130pd tdi for the Polo.
The reason why they are limiting the outputs is because Seat is their sporting brand not VW - Seat get the higher output and better Sporting chassis development.
If the put a high output engine in the Polo it's likely to be for the R model.
