Anyway......... I got a phone all today from Eibach HQ, turns out that me and the little Polo only went and got the 3rd fastest time of the weekend on the handling course.
Won a £200 voucher so I've ordered the front ARB (just to keep Gavs quiet! )
So next month I'll be in the VW Driver magazine twice!
Statllers, who do the tuning work on my car did well, Fastest 2 Porsches of the weekend, fastest RS6 and 2nd fastest MKV on the strip and mine on the handling course.
Yes man, yes! Are you running the Whiteline rear adjustable bar? I so, tweak that to full stiff, bolt on the front (I'm guessing it will be the 22mm diameter bar, stock is 16mm from memory) then you can use the rebound and compression controls on the dampers and tyre pressures to tweak the handling balance if there is too much understeer:)
Another thing you can do is to use bonded rubber rather than urethane on the front bar, a bit more compliant but it also has some initial slop in its movement.
Yes i'm already running the Whiteline rear ARB on full stiff.
Turns out I was in the miscellaneous category for the Sprint and came 3rd fastest in my class for the 1/4 mile and 2nd fastest for the 0-60 dash. Not too bad considering I did all my runs in the wet/damp!
Standard recommended upgrade pack: Recommended retail $995-00
- Custom D and S programs
- 1st gear Re-activation
- Less unwanted downshift on light acceleration
All new 7-speed DSG’s with dry clutch have software “compromises”. They shift overly early, and do not make great use of 1st gear. This causes annoying vibrations when the DSG shifts from 1st to 2nd gear, slow reaction on the throttle from low rpm and low speeds, possible damage to transmission & excessive wear on the dual mass flywheel & clutch packs.
Surveyed customers tend not to use “S” mode as it holds the gear far too long for regular city driving, and find “D” mode too lazy.
Our new software solves this problem.
In D Mode we give you much better drivability, and the S mode becomes much more useful. When driving in D, most 1.4TSI’s shift over to 7th gear at 58km/h, we set this to 78km/h. This means the car will not drive at the super low 1150rpm anymore. The engine will stay above 1400rpm. No noticeable change in fuel consumption.
1st gear reactivation, the 7 speed DSG’s do not use 1st gear any longer, only when taking off from a complete standstill. This causes abnormal wear & shuddering in the clutch packs (particularly the 1st to 2nd gear change). When driving below 17km/h the throttle response is poor as the gear is too high & RPM too low. Our software uses first gear for speeds up to 17kmph.
Other options: (add more than one option and the price becomes $199 per option)
Our standard package is recommended for most "enthusiasts", the other "options" are really for someone who is pushing the limits or who have a custom request.
If you have a race specific application or big turbo application, then tied with in with different engine remapping, we should have a transmission solution for you.
Standard battery and fittings were weighed out at 15.25kg
Lightweight race battery and fittings weighed in at 7.3kg
A saving of almost 8kg.
Looks like it was meant to fit there too!
Do you have a part number for the spare wheel foam tool holder? Im thinking of taking out my spare wheel and using tyre foam if i get a functure, Or pre fill tyres with this stuff http://www.tyreprotect.co.uk/puncture_p ... ducts.html It's what the police, ambulance service use.
