benmkiv wrote:Yeah the custom maps are the best because you can distribute the power evenly across the range. The custom maps you can always tell because of the smooth curves on the dyno. I mean I've seen things running 320bhp but a lot of them were asking too much from the turbo so it just didn't produce enough torque higher in the boost range. Like I said I'd be interested to see how this all goes! Don't think I'm
Putting you down I may be wrong and I wish you the beat of luck with it. I know I'd do the same regardless of what people told me :p I've seen one of these running 300bhp but not sure what it drove like it was on eBay I wouldn't of cared if of bought it to just say 300bhp polo! So much better when you've done it yourself :D
I saw that one on ebay. I have always been a man to do things myself. I could never buy a car someone else has modified.

Once mapped i will post up a pic of the dyno graph. And try and explain in words what it's like to drive.

This is one serious Motor 8) I cant wait to see the finished result

As for the Power I think you will be ok running over 300bhp, traction will not be brilliant in the wet but I cant see you having many problems in most conditions.
If it's mapped correctly with a nice smooth power curve then the delivery on the road should be good.
I have seen lads running Civic Type R's with 330-400bhp and they cope just fine :) LSD and sticky tyres help matters too

Thanks mate. looking forward to finishing it too.

I have an LSD and currently run Continental tyres which i find great. But sticky tyres would be better.

Smooth map is a must been there and done the Revo map now want to make it more drivable.

That's what forum's are all about in my opinion. To ask questions to gain knowledge.
LSD = Limited Slip Differential

The below link should answer this rather than me try and explain.

I totally agree :) I don't like forums where people take the p*** if you don't know stuff.

Ah yes limited slip diff :) how much would one if those set you back then? It's defo worth it just for when it rains ha.

Of all the forums i have been on this is the best where people actually help each other.

Well from Quaiffe you would be looking at £720 for the diff then about £110 for the bolt kit. Then you have to have it fitted. AMD charge around £1250 drive in drive out.

i bought a box with a diff second hand for £500 stripped the box and took the diff out then took my box and the diff to be fitted. Fitting cost with new bearing was £175.

No cheap bit of kit but worth it in the long run especially when exiting corners. The grip is phenomenal.

I've only been on club polo and they aren't nice on there ha.

That's not as bad as I expected actually, and seeing as its a straight fit I could fit it myself and save £400 :) that's a good website, I'll be saving it for when I need it :) thanks.

To many "keyboard Warriors" on these forums just want to be rude and unhelpful.

Always helps if you can fit stuff yourself saves loads of labour money. If your talking about fitting the diff to the box yourself be mindful that you need to have it shimmed correctly when fitting new bearings.

Don't like them words on that box!!
My bro had major issues with cr turbos blew 4 or 5 turbos in a year. If you go to nick at r tech he could tell you about this story very well. Took cr turbos to court about it.

Hope you don't have issues.

Got a tin of this

Image

So sorted out these after a session with the wire brush and some brake cleaner

Image

Image

Image

Also did the rear splash plates

Image

Image

And after a grilling from a mate i got a tin of silver paint to change the gearbox from this

Image

Image

Image

To this (after 1 coat. Needs another)

Image

Image

Image

Also as per pic of the box finally got my VF22 turbo back with new P20 exhaust housing as the old one was cracked when i received the turbo and a K24 compressor wheel in a machined VF34 compressor housing

From this

To this

Image

Some pics of the oil/water lines

Image

Came with the blue water line (Jabba sport early version) but had a new one made

Image

ANd before anyone says anything the water oil cooler will be getting a coat of silver paint lol
Image

Image

Image

Image

Few shots of the engine

Image

Image

Image

Down pipe and cat mocked up to make sure everything fits ok

Image

Then decided it time to tackle the alternator ready to paint.

If all goes to plan hopefully have the engine and gearbox back in the car Sunday/Monday :-)
