Andy shame you're not happy given you waited so long for yours. Mine doesn't seem to have the troubles you have had so far but I am not 100% sure about the handling which has seriously got me thinking about going for an ST which was my first choice before it got knocked on the head by my better half! I am three quarters of the way for going for another test drive. Am I mad?! I would be very grateful for any ex ST drivers views as to whether in their opinion there is much different to warrant a change. I appreciate your views over and above those in the motoring press!
Yeah think I waited so long it makes it more disappointing. I'll give dealer chance to fix the faults ie the engine cut outs, missing type thing and the rattles, of which I have 5 lol, passenger door buzz, centre area around temp controls creaks like a good un, odd tapping noise instrument binnacle, vent by A pillar buzz and the B pillar seat belt height adjuster vibrates and buzzes on poor surfaces. I love the power, handling quite good, and ride decent but seriously annoyed by the faults. I regret trading in my 2012 Fiesta zetecs s as was perfect with no faults, but fancied an upgrade. Hindsite an all that. How long u had yours, I'd chop it in if I can't get faults fixed on mine but the depreciation hit will b awful I'd imagine
I agree depreciation would be a killer. Had mine for nearly a year and I'd be looking at a £5000 depreciation maybe a bit more. I think this might swing it for me but waiting for views on this forum. Like you I was a previous Fiesta owner and even in the 1 litre eco boost the handling was very good and the GTI is barely better in my view.

Was ur fiesta Rattle free? (Sorry a hobby horse of mine lol) I'd go for a fiesta St line if buying tomorrow, ST looks, more economical and softer ride.

The fiesta st is an awesome car but to me it is like a clitoris
Every c@&t has one!
The polo is a lot rarer and better looking and a lot less boy racer
In my younger days I had a nova Sr and a xr2i along with a few other hot hatches but now I'm looking for a bit more refinement
Sorry to hear about all your problems Andy and once you start hearing them you can't help but hear them more and more
My one is a 16 plate and it seems to be built solidly enough. Hopefully it will stay that way

Yes my Fiesta had no rattles. It was absolutely fine but lacked power for me. I personally would want to have the power of the ST and live with the hard suspension but I appreciate that is a matter of personal taste!

This was the reaction of my better half apart from the clematis comment! Apart from the image is the ST a significantly better drive?

Unfortunately sounds like Andy has a 'Friday afternoon' car. Had mine just over a year and appears rattle free.

So I hadn't had a update on my order tracker since the 25th June, when it updated to 'in transit'. Thought I'd speak to VW live chat and see if they could give me some info. They reckon my lovely new automobile is on the 'City of Rotterdam' with an eta to the UK of 19th July... seems fairly reasonable except the City of Rotterdam is currently underway from Tangier, Morocco to Montoir, France. Don't UK bound vehicles normally come straight from Emden or Santander? Seems like mine has either been on a jolly down to Morocco and France first or are VW just BS'ing me?

Mine came from Santander to Tynemouth stopping off at Sheerness on the way, and after 2 weeks sat at the port I am finally getting it on Sunday!

Ah, very good! Why the 2 week delay at the port though? I'm down south so I assume mine will offload at Sheerness. What colour etc did you go for?

I've gone for white with just light and sight pack and app connect, not sure why there was such a delay, my dealer couldn't explain it and seemed as frustrated as me

Its a shame that some of you are having problems with the car, the only issue I have had thus far Is an annoying rattle that turned out to be 1 loose screw for the headlights in the engine bay. It might just be some of us have Tuesday cars and others have Friday afternoon cars.

Regarding the spec if people are contemplating, the Sports pack IS A MUST, it just makes the car a bit more exciting, I really like the extra grumble sound you get and I welcome the firmer suspension and the heavier steering. I have a sneaky suspicion the suspension is softer on sports mode cars in standard compared to non sports modes, dealers may say otherwise but mine has the sports pack and the one I test drove twice did not and the suspension on the non sport pack was slightly firmer than mine in standard mode, so it gives a nice comfortable ride when you want to be sensible.

The Navigation although expensive and at the time me not realising car net app could get you the nav I still would get it, its so fast to react, intuitive and wont need you messing around with your phone before hand, Also allways tels you what road your on even when your not in nav, tels you the direction your heading in and you can just touch the screen to select where to navigate to. It is one of the best sat nav systems I have used in a car (comparing to new BMW and Mercedes systems, both of these are not touch screen which is annoying).

Winter pack, if you like heated seats then this is for you, seats heat up fast and the 2 stages are good for when you just want a little heat on a cold evening or full power when its artic conditions outside.

If I were to go back and re spec my car I would keep the sport button, nav, winter pack and I would swap the convenience pack with the parking pack with rear view camera.

Regarding the wear in time I just drove it how I wanted to from the word go but only let myself hit the limiter around 7k rpm after it had 1k miles on it, everything seems fine and the car has used 0 oil (not like the old days when you needed an oil change after the 1st 300 miles). After 1k miles my commute mpg went from 31 mpg up to 45 mpg so the engine has definitely loosened up now and it feels smooth and wiling to rev.

The only changes I would make to the car would be to possibly fit performance brake pads, hoping EBC make a green-stuff pads for this. The brakes are excellent but I feel when you really push them the Green-stuff pads would be better and I cant wait for my tyres to wear out so I can put some decent rubber on, most likely the Goodyear eagle f1 asymmetric 3's (disappointing Michelin only offer the ps3 tyres in the polo's size, would prefer a pilot sport 4 or super sport)

MIne's on the same boat, on it's way to Zeebrugge at the moment.

VW say that it will get to Emden on the 19th, not sure how it gets to the UK after that.

Manual or automatic?
Just to know a personal diff
Heated seats are a joy as well[emoji1303]
I have mine lowered already and I wasn't sure if u could do this with the sport button extra what with the electronic suspension modification
I'm happy with no sport button but my dsg gearbox goes into sport mode and I drive it like I stole it!!

Not sure of the benefits of the rear view camera either. Lot of people on this forum having problems with the camera but to tell the truth if you can't park a polo there is something seriously wrong with you

Good news, The City of Rotterdam is due to leave Zeebrugge today and arrive in Grimsby on the 18th :D
After it's tour of the bay of Biscay and Morocco

My car will be better traveled than me! When I said I wanted to take it round Europe, this is not what I had in mind.

Still, if we're very lucky... might actually be able to get them at the weekend. Just have to shift it on a transporter to the dealers and then inspect it... Shouldn't take more than a week I imagine. (Famous last words?)
