Looking good Joe.

Must say the seats are quite impressive - the fabrication looked pretty detailed

Thanks matey, the fronts really weren't as hard as i'd imagined. Don't think these seats have been put in a polo before which is pretty cool 8)

Heated bits next! Car is handling amazing at the moment. So responsive but fear this is down to the negative camber which is a little on the extreme side let's say ...

Luckily I'm not that low so hopefully won't need to worry to much... I did put some helicopter tape on the leading edge to protect it but it looks gash to be honest!

Just installing speaker wiring at the mo..

Don't do what I did and drill through the door loom, costs £500 to fix after lol.

Cc splitter looks soooo much better on gti's.

Haha in my first gti i actually drilled the door  . This time i used a dremel to drill i speaker cable sized hole into the loom plug and there was just enough space to run it through there .

So after being covered in Gearbox oil, rain , more rain and gravel I've done my 5th gear swap. The actual process was a doddle as i'd practised on a spare box before hand.

Old gears - notice the notches in the teeth? Have no idea what this is....

New one on.

Took a bit of fine tuning get the selector adjusted right so it didn't crunch but it's there now. First impressions are as expected lower revs :) Does about 2800 at 70 which is great for cruising. Obviously theres a little jump between 4th and 5th but I never race through the entire box anyway so staying in 4th a bit longer doesn't bother me. I'll report back any differences in MPG.

At a guess inthink the marks in the gears itself could be for oil to pass through and live the gear?

Ill have to swing by and have a nosy inside that spare box at some point Joe. Keen to see what the faulty bearing looks like that destroys these boxes
