Haha. The idea to have that is indeed coming from the W222. But i remember it was small and square.

Anyway, an idea for luxury features surely need to come from such models. Well, now seems like we can also have this

Yep, I know, A0009061335 is door light (warning + floor), one A1667400072 / 0009060235 or A2229069301 (with black frame) light is mounted to tailgate strip.
I like also smoked light A1648200058 (from second side of Mercedes tailgate) :D

Hello everybody.
I’m thinking to install the boot flashlight from skoda.

I understand the flash light comes with 3 pins
1 - 12v power
2 - Normal Ground
3 - Boot switch Ground.

The question now, with our polo, the boot light is powered and controlled by bcm. Is it safe for me to use this power since the flashlight do have charger for the battery inside and i’m worried its going to draw the over current. Should i be worried? or it should be better to connect from separate +30 ?

But then, with direct +30, will it continue charging forever??

You can have a look at how much charging current it needs. The +30g terminal from the BCM should be able to provide at least 40W in a configuration with factory footwell lights and a normal roof lining with illuminated vanity mirrors etc. So that's around 3,5 amps. If the charger needs only 1A and you have some LEDs on other places in your car, I think it's safe to use the +30g terminal. That's how I'd investigate this.

thanks iichel. ive been referring to your folder really. Just for the charging part i’m abit worried. Right now, all my roof lights are white LEDs but all 4 footwells and boot light are still standard bulbs as i love it to contrast in color that way. With another plan to power up the side mirror puddle lights, i’m not sure how much it will consume.

So i guess, i will have to power up the flashlight and check the current consumption

Do you know is there cut-off function within the flash light after the battery is fully charge?

I'm not sure to be honest, how the charging circuit works. I guess it works the same as a rechargeable NiMH or Li-ion AA battery.
Perhaps you can measure the current consumption during charging and when fully charged? I suppose, simply putting a multimeter on A in the circuit should work.

In any case, the BCM sleeps the terminal 30g after a period of time once you close the car.
