This is my new Polo GTI! Just picked up from Inchcape VW a couple of weeks ago. Was going to go for red at first, but the white just took the lead in the end!

Looks really good enjoy your new gti 😎

For me I think white makes the lines / creases on the body stand out. However I’m becoming a fan of reef blue and limestone grey and also the red gti details pop out more on other colours

Hi everybody,
this is my first post on this forum. I've bought Polo 1.0 TSI 95HP DSG 18 months ago after having Octavia VRS and few other faster cars. It seems at 64 one is supposed to downscale both in size and speed. My wife was happy, saying "thank heavens, this is going to be your first car without tuning. And it was. For 18 months :D
Now it is remapped (to 115HP by Sedox) and lowered with wider wheels. It took some preparation for lowering since I wanted wheels being flush with wheel archs. This is why I ended with 17"x7" ET35 rims and 215/45R17 tires. Rims are model P58 Grey by Platin Wheels, tires are Hankook Ventus V12 Evo. Thanks to precise measurements and calculations, wheels are just 1mm indented at front and 5mm at the back. For the springs I've chosen Eibach Pro Kit since I had good experience with those on my previous cars.
Prior to lowering I have measured car height (wheel arch cutout edge) on 10 ocassions in 30 days course and 10 times more after lowering. So now I know the car is lowered exactly 27mm at the front and 31mm at the back. Pretty much within Eibach's claimed 25/30mm.
I am very satisfied now with car performance (acceleration and cornering) while the comfort stayed within acceptable levels. As the matter of fact, comfort is not far from original 15" wheels and height as my Mrs actually didn't notice any difference
So, here are couple of before/after pics. Larger size pics can be found here: https://pbase.com/miljenko/polo. Just select "original" as "other sizes".

Hoping you like my touchups and that my experience with lowering and wheels selection can help someone.
Best,
Miljenko

@MiljenkoD; looks good. I think the changes you’ve made improve the car visually - the changes are quite subtle but make a noticeable difference. Nice choice of wheels 👍.

Thanks, SRGTD. I know I can't make it look like a real sports car but making it different to ordinary Polo was one of the rare funs during this lockdown! Hoping this regime goes away soon enough to go out and test the car on some winding country roads :)

You should remap to 135-140 ps not 115...

Thank you Jannis for your opinion but you should know the subject of target power was thoroughly discussed with my tuning advisor. He pointed out mechanical differences between 95 and 115HP versions of this engine. Higher power version has high temperature valves and turbine casing. Meaning 95HP engine can not sustain full power for longer periods even at 115HP. Although I had offers for higher power remaps, I opted for more conservative 115HP version from reputable Sedox company. Performance difference should be only marginal and the safety is more important for a car under warranty!
Best,
Miljenko

Ohhh i didn't knew that! I have 115 version with manual gearbox. So now your thoughts seems good! Can you tell me the difference from 95 to 115 do you have any technical analysis?

There are just two differences as far as I'm aware of: cylinder head valves are filled with natrium and turbine has casing that can sustain higher temperatures. Obviously, your engine produces higher combustion chamber and exhaust path temperatures. Of course, there is some temperature inertia so it takes time for exhaust temperature to rise which provides some limited time frame for my poor 95HP engine to survive couple of seconds at 115HP. This is why remapping 95HP engine as far as 130HP would limit this critical time even more and increase further danger of failure. And I'm pretty sure my official VW service provider wouldn't accept warranty claim for burned out remapped engine.
And friend of mine,an experienced mechanic who was servicing my Octavia VRS for years says that in general those 3 cylinder engines are more expensive to repair than previous 4 cylinder 1.2 liter engines. So you can imagine how carefuly and briefly I use that max power! :(
