Hey Yorks, seeing as you work for vw, is there a list of known common faults with polo tdi sports? if so or if you know some can you list them please?

You sure? all the mechanics I've spoke to from VW don't have a clue what there talking about, they can't even find out what's wrong with our car's

I meant about the tracking, whoever said they could get it done for £20.

I can't comment on the mechanics because I've had no trouble with them.

My cars going in for the 4th time for the noise. Mines more of a intermittant creaking noise from the rear. They want me to demonstrate the noise but it doesnt always happen. I get it when I reverse after it being parked for a couple of hours. (I havent got my foot on the brake) Its as if something is grinding/ moving against something by the wheels or suspension. Its worse if I have washed my car!?
Anyone had this- and resolved it? They have de-glased the brakes and put in new parts to the calipers. WhAt ElSe!!?! :(

Yeh mine similarily makes a knocking noise on the front passenger side, I mention this when it went into to be looked at over my gearbox and they found nothing, so I assume this is ok! I am also going to have it checked thoroughly before the waranty runs out!

I have an update for you guys....

My dad had his car up on the ramps at a new VAG specialist company yesterday, he was actually allowed under the car himself to see exactly what was going on with regard to this knocking noise.

Basically the knocking noise is DEFINATELY an anti-roll bar issue. Its a hard one to explain but I'll try...

What he's found (and was shown) is that at the point where the anti-roll bar curves, just above this point under the car, is some kind of mounts (engine mounts maybe?), whatever they're mounts for, they have a big bolt going up through them (anyone who's been under their car maybe able to identify these). The anti-roll bar is hard steel, the mounts above are alluminium - the wear on these mounts from the anti-roll bar is evident to the point where the mounts are very de-formed from continuous knocks/bumps. Hense why we all hear metal-on-metal knocking noises!

A suggestion is that maybe the sports suspension has a closer gap under the car between the roll bar and the above mounts due to the -10mm lower suspension?

Anyway, the answer to resolve this knocking is replacement drop links. My dads car is due in the garage again next week for either longer or shorter drop links (current progress is the guy at the garage is working on information/help given from skoda, the fabias also having a similar issue).
These different drop links will either lower or raise the roll bar away from the mounts and therefore stop the knocking...

...hopefully :)

Fingers crossed and keep you posted :D

Also, just found this link from a search on google here

Well I took mine in to VW the other day for the 4th time and what did they tell me this time?...we couldn't hear a knocking noise but we've tightened your spare wheel holder as it was loose...this could of been the cause...£60.00 thank you very much please call again

Are these guy's totally stupid or what? To be fair they did say if it knocks again bring it back and we will look at it free of charge after I argued with them for 20 minutes!!

It's been knocking this morning but tbh I can't be bothered taking it back to these cowboys I'm seriously considering trading it for a Mini Cooper S cos my brothers just got a job there and I can get a nice family discount :D apparently there reliable as well which will be nice :x
