In your haste to copy & paste that entire web-page………..did you happen to find out which particular vehicle genre/model, the factory in question related to?………….or did your ‘tunnel vision’, not allow you to do so?

Specifically, certain models aren't built in Germany.

It certainly is just a bad apple mate, and in my opinion you should have given it a chance, but you made your decision and thats done at the end of the day.

mines on 54k now, and the clutch feels great, no probs with the gear box at all.

What does it matter? The factory in question is Wolfsburg, which is VW's HQ. You originally said that no VW's were made in Germany which is bull, if your that bothered why don't you ask your sales friend which models are built there

Your coming accross as a bit of a geek I dont know if it's intentional, may be you should go back to your puma forum

I read this post with interest it has to be said the original poster is correct in saying the Polo GTi has a weak gearbox, the 5 speed 1.4/1.6 Box in Golfs/Polos/Leons/Octavias/A3s is unrealiable the Polo GTis especially as it has the most power going through it there are many versions with different gears ratios however its the diff and 5th gear that are the weak spots aswell as the 2nd gear syncromesh I found this out after a friend at works box failed in his Octavia he got his refurbed the guy was saying he sees more VAG gearboxes than any other make however the 1.8T and diesel boxes are bulliet proof.

As for the ford vs VW for reliability I had a Feista Zetec for just over 3 years and 40k and not one thing went wrong with it the same can't be said for the Polo sadly.

I said that VW's were not built in Germany, nobody said that VW's were not designed in Germany. There is a big difference between something being designed, and something being built, ok.

Point being, what you said about VW's not being built in Germany was incorrect.

And as Dino said, by all means keep digging.

 Oh well, it's taking my mind of revision.

1. You made some statement from some apparent 'VW Sales Executive' claiming that:
VW's are not built in Germany anymore.
2. I post a link to a website that shows whilst yes, some models are built outside of Germany, VW still produces models like the Golf in plants such as Wolfburg.

3. Note how your statement that VW's are 'not built in Germany anymore' is therefore wrong.
