Re: this weeks progress!

Tut tut, reviving a (very) old thread, its nearly 2 years since the last post and exactly 2 years to the day since my original thread starter! I found this on Page 15

This is how the car looked back in March 2007 for anyone who doesn't know the car and because the darn links in the first post are broken :? !

A lot has happened in the last two years, the main point being that I got made redundant and have been out of work for a year (yeah I know, slacker :) ). I have still managed to keep my eyes on the modding game though. I was looking at changing my car last year but due to the job thing, ended up keeping the Ibiza!

Well anyway, last year saw me re-fit the BBS wheels after the winter, and then due to knackered droplinks, buy an H&R 20mm front anti roll bar to replace the standard 18mm one. It came with bigger hoops to avoid the arb touching the driveshafts. I also fitted 20mm spacers front and back and it looked like this at GTi Spring Festival last year:

Image

That was it for modding, apart from raising the front 10mm to avoid mass scrubbage, which is my opinion, ruined the stance.

Move on 6 months and I put the BBS up for sale in search of something different. I really fancied a set of TT Comps, which I would add my own twist to!

This year, the car has received the OEM treatment on the inside, with FR dash vents and surrounds put in place and the chrome gear surround and knob have been replaced with stock items. Its dark, and some would say dull, but every mk4 Ibiza on the planet seems to have the tacky chrome in the interior and I just wanted to be a bit different.

Image

In all fairness the gear knob is pretty dull, so I am on the look out for a nice OEM knob, possibly Leon Cupra R, or a nice S-Line Audi item! Oh and an Audi R8 oil cap will hopefully be bought in the near future!

It currently stands like this with the standard wheels on, 20mm front spacers removed and the front re-lowered by 10-15mm:

Anyways the big question! Wheels?
Well I found a set of TT Comps in desperate need of a refurb and tyres (I never do things the easy way!) and these should be done by the weekend hopefully, as the tyres turned up today. Not gonna tell you what I'm gonna do with them, it will have to be a suprise!

All in good time my friend, going to the refurbers today so hopefully by the weekend!

The black wheels were just something to run over the winter, a bodge job refurb so that the BBS could be safe and sound in the garage. They are a bit of a mess at the moment as they hardly had a wash over the winter and the brake dust makes them looks kinda brown in places, even after a good scrub

Yeah the colour coded RXII's looked ridiculously sick!! don't think any other wheels would match as well.

Well finally got the wheels sorted and some of you would have seen them at the GTI Spring Festival last Sunday!

For those that didn't, here are some (crappy phone) pics:

The day I got them them:

Arch clearance at the rear using 20mm spacers:

And some much better pics from the show at Santa Pod:

Chuffed to bits with how they have turned out, just need to get the centre caps sorted (I had a set to be refurbed with the wheels but they were too corroded). Bought a new set and was then told that they weren't in stock.

Hope you like, comments? :D
