Mike's suggestion for gearbox problems was spot on, but people read what he wrote wrong. If the engine and box from a lupo gti are fitted together, it is an extremely straight forward fit, assuming you buy lupo mounts. Its only the hydro clutch that may prove difficult, but fitting the pedal box from the loop will rectify this as well.

Lol @ the nippy part. It's still great considering it's engine size/weight but we all want a bit more power all the time 8)

As others have said not worth converting the 1.6

Rothe motorsport do a turbo conversion (only about 12,000 euro's fitted!!!) which gives 222ps and 321nm no performance stats for the Polo but they also do an identical Lupo GTi conversion which gave a figure of 0-62 in 6.7secs - hardly worth the cash IMHO. Anyway this is what you get for your money:

RM exhaust turbo-elbow union
spec RM KKK supercharger
spec pressure capsule owner inclusive pressure capsule and linkage
Oil inlet and return pipe turbocharger
Adapter for oil pressure switches
RM intermediate plate for compression reduction (alternatively we offer also forging pistons against surcharge)
Wasseranschluesse turbochargers
Intercooler
Intercooler pipes
Silicone hoses
Screws and clips
Turn off valves
Breech piece between turbochargers and Kat
Sucking in turbocharger (blanks from aluminum)
Sport air cleaner
spec owner for engine wiring harness/plug unit
RM forging piston
spec connecting rod bearing
Intercooler
Pressure pipes, hoses and clips
Breech piece between turbochargers and Kat
changed catalyst
RM wiring harness
Spec controller with elek. Load pressure control and torque delimitation (280Nm)
Load pressure and sucking in temperature sensor
Spec air mass measurer
Adjustment and optimization electronic engine management
Oil cooler plant thermalstatically regulated
strengthened clutch

I'd be happy with 6.7. Wouldn't want it too fast as the car will just handle crap
