Right.. It would appear about a few weeks ago my exhaust formed a hole.. which seems to be behind the heat shield covering the catalyst...

I was planning to purchase a new front section and if I had the money a back box too. Then with the help of a friend and a haynes manual change the exhaust.. Any ideas as to how hard this is? or any tips when doing it?

Cheers guys.

I want brand new ones if I can get hold of some.. Nothing happened, there is just green moss stuff round the seals on my indicators and headlights and dead flies in the headlights.

Before I buy some HID's I just wanted to source some new ones :)

Exhaust is dead easy to change - although if its the original, there will be grinding involved :shock: Ill give you a hand with it some time

As for headlights, you could get FK angel eyes on ebay, or just a new set from euro car parts mate.

Cool cheers :) My mate has said he would help change it already, we might just order a whole new exhaust, as the backbox will fail soon anyways...

Is it advisable to purchase genuine VW from euro car parts? or can I just get some of the cheaper parts from other companies?

Don't get cheap headlights mate, especially if your gonna fit HIDs. HIDs get rather hot ;)

Update;

I purchased some HID's from hids4u.co.uk the other day and they arrived today. So when I got home from work I set out installing them, along with some "Ultra xenon white" LED's for sidelights :D

Right, well I am happy with how the drilling and wiring of the headlight units went. (Pictured below)

Image

The offside hdi ballast I have used three strips of 'No more nails' double sided tape and one of the screws which I pre-drilled into the plastic cover above the radiator. I am happy that this ballast will stay in place, whereas the driver side ballast I am less confident..

Offside Ballast, Secured..

Driver side ballast, Secure.. but for how long? I think the cable tie I used will deteriorate quite rapidly from the heat the exhaust manifold will give off.. Any suggestions or ideas where to move it or how to secure it better are welcome as I don't feel confident its going to stay where it is for long :(

Suggestions welcome! Night pictures coming soon, when it eventually gets dark :P

Check out the way I mounted them in Leahs - its much safer than the way you have done it purely for the fact of safety, and heat dispersal - worth a look ;)
