Re: Cupra sold, New car pics - 18" RS content

Post by shantybeater »

Well i've never seen these on a Z so I went to view some last night.

These aren't 'supers' but the next best thing, 17" BBS RS fitted with dishes to make them 18's. Unfortunately no shots can be shown of the rears as they werent wrapped in tyres.

The sizes are 18x8.5 et13 front (shown in pics) & 18x9.5 et13rear . You need to try and picture the larger dishes on the rear and a decent drop. Also if I was to buy them i'd be going stretch on the tyres to make them 225 front & 235 rear + a lower profile. (the tyres in the photo are 235). I'd probably also go for 10.5" on the rear

Would these fit or too much poke? :?

Honest opinions please :)

mmm very nice! but then again i'm a sucker of anything that mentions RS's. with the streched tires and a drop that will look crazy good.

Car looks good James, and the bbs RS's are really smart. Can't help thinking with a bit of stretch and a slight drop it would look sensational.

I want an Ibiza Cupra now though :D

cheers for the replies, Tim you can but only 'supers' which look a bit odd because of the length of the spokes.

These would set me back around £1600 but i think i'm going to pass because of the large amount of poke on the front.

Here's a chop of the rims done by a guy over on ed38

They would look really nice but maybe 17's could be a better way to go?? easier offsets and more dish on the rear (although in this pic its they arent that much deeper if at all):

Image

or some AC schnitzer 18" rims?? i think maybe they suit the lines of the car a bit better?

good choice with the cupra polo96cl - make sure you get one with a few mods done to save you money in the long run!

i like the AC schnitzer wheels as your car is so clean it will be nice to stay completely OEM and factory. Just finding a decent set in the right size eh?

AC rims look sweet, a bloke here has a genuine set on his 7 series and they look amazing. Sadly it looks a bit 4x4 but would look so much better slammed.

I think i'm going to have wait a couple of years for a cupra, probably because of insurance! I did love yours though, I remember speaking to Tim when he had a go in yours at the bristol meet, it got his approval for sure :D

oh yeah that was the second one? I passed that onto a friend, it was only running 285bhp with a broken maf & throttle body, its running 330 now

Its worth the wait mate so hang on :)

yeah I think its the ACS for me, but i'm still tempted by LM's if the right set turn up:

Oh wow the LM's look brilliant! Pity they cost so much eh, although I think you can get the reps (with a car so immaculate like yours james, I wouldn't skimp on a cheap set, buy cheap buy twice etc).

Yeah the second cupra, not keen on the yellow but the blue looks ace. Are you coming to any shows this year?

Yeah i'm not into reps at all so thats a no go, they are stupidly expensive/rare which is a real shame :(

Black is also nice on the cupra, not sure about shows i might be at edition38 but thats about it at the mo, you?

Yeah defo go for the real stuff if you can afford it, a car so clean like that would be let down by a poor copy.

Going to edition 38, still in the polo :D

LMs look amazing, hands down! not overly keen on the ACs myself. RS in 17 look better also (than 18s) I think

Well an offer came up I couldnt refuse, so I bit the bullet and bought it, unfortunately there is alot to do before it will see my engine bay..so it may be a while before you see the results:

Things to do first:

- Strengthen rear diff mount to handle extra power, BMW are known to sometimes fix this issue as 'free will' but it goes on a case by case basis
- Buy a full cat back exhaust system
- Fit & live map the car
- Possibly go low comp pistons / uprate internals, depends whether I can 'reliably' run the power without or not

All fairly expensive things, some alot more than others! but the cars a keeper so I dont mind the wait.
