Just traded in my 51 Reg Seat Ibiza Cupra 1.8 20V T

brilliant car,was Lots of fun and a bargain when I got it new. Same spec golf was around £5-£6K more.

Before that I had a Fieasta 1.6 S as a run about while I got my Renault Clio fixed after I had a fight with a bollard.

Now I have a 1.9 TDI 9N as im driving alot more miles a year to work.

Karl, I think it 'came out' the wrong way when I first said it... I just had a mate at uni who had one also and he hated it, a real slug. Kind of like my 1-litre performance wise :)
But, the insurance was as much as he could afford, the economy was terrific - and in the end, he wound up losing his license in the beast anyway. (Caught twice by an unmarked camera van doing 40-ish on a wide open 30 limit, everyone was trucking along at the same speed, like fish in a barrel - goes without saying it was on anglesey   f**rs... yep only twice, he'd only passed 9 months earlier)
That website should be a tad interesting if what you claim is true

Bstard - I knew you were going to say something as horrific as that, was only joking really

SBP   :x fate sucks dunnit

As for the fiats :) Well that seals the lid on my opinion of Sony Computer Entertainment Corp's attention to detail as regards gear ratios, IE they closed their eyes and poked pins in a phone book. They don't half have some dodgy ones - original 25hp 500 being higher geared in 4th (good for 120 itself, off of everest) than the Cinq/Seis are in 5th (chowing limiter before the ton) not to mention the gear weighting for oh so many cars. (one of the few good ones is, typically, japanese - the ol' Datsun Z. Sweet ride). Sounds like the country road driving style is similar to mine - go as quick as you can see to stop, and only lift off on the corners when you feel it running dangerously wide... which aint that often (or when you come across an MGF, Audi or Alpina Beemer going far slower - quite common).

La!

1.1 L reg Rover Metro Manhattan,
belonging to my dad. He bought it on about 18k in 1999, learnt with that it's now on 33k. It's a special edition with RCL & a sunroof. :)
Also my instructors 1.4 TDi Seat Arosa (quite nippy).

The speedo on the Metro goes up to 110mph, I saw 5mph under that, not bad for a 1.1.

Now on my Polo :D

understatement! we are currently trying to find the 'safe' limit of boost you can out through these things (its currently running about 35psi - we cant get an accurate reading as the needle goes off the boost gauge!)

I started my driving lessons in a Polo 6N.. it was pretty much a driving wreck.. gearbox was completely gone. My instructor had to push and hold the gearstick in reverse, otherwise it would pop out as soon as the clutch came up.
Just before my exam they got a new car: a polo 9N (1.9 SDI if i'm not mistaking). Drove like heaven compared with the 6N

My first car was an '89 Toyota Starlet. At first sight it looked pretty nice, and the engine was still in good condition. After 3 months it got hit by a spacewagon kinda thing while it was parked along side the road. It wasn't a heavy crash or anything, but now some nasty looking rusty bits became clearly visble all the way around. It even had some extra ventilation holes :) . I didn't wanna spent a lot of money on the old thing, so started to look 4 a new ride.
I kinda stumbled across this Polo, and on my dad's advice i decided to buy it. (when I first saw it, it was pink instead of red :P )

that's about it.. driving this Polo now for like a year and a half. and got my license about 2 years ago...

Much like tornado ally I made/am making the transition from push bikes to cars. I bought a standard savage elite (somehow seems to end up being misread as sausage), and have ploughed a fair bit into customizing it. If it weren't for the frame, rear suspension, front suspension and a few nuts and bolts it would be an entirely different bike.

I have been learning to drive since late February, a month or so after my 17th. I have done a fair few hours to date, but have loads more to do. Am hoping to make the transition into my polo coupe. I bought it from my great auntie on an L-plate with 50k on the clock for 350 quid. I'm not complaining for that money! Just needed a damn good clean and some tlc, and now its right as rain.

Problem is I'm being stung for insurance. 2800 to go it alone. doesnt help the fact its classed as group 6/7 insurance. Will have to do my Pass Plus before I can afford to insure the thing.
