hi all im abit confused.

ive bought a kit off rclick. with 2 blanks and 2 fobs.

how do i go about getting those 2 blanks to open my car doors and start the car?

anyone know how much vw charge for this service?

You'll have to get them cut. Most Audi dealers have the keycutting tool, but your local VW may have one. Its £7 quid a key from memory, though you may be able to ask nicely and get it for free, or cheaper.

As for starting the car, youll need the immobiliser chip either permanently in the car taped to the immobiliser ring, or remove the chip from each of your original keys and stick it into your new key.

carefull taking the immobiliser chip out... you dont want to break it, that would be a very expensive mistake !

Correct. If its a non- GTI, youd be best to cut the key up and get it out that way, as they are bonded into the housing.

This is a mod I'd like to do for the Mrs 6N2. Has anyone got a How To with pics for the key mod please? We only got one key with our car so I'd need to be extremely careful with ours..

What would the advice be? Is it possible to buy a transponder chip on it's own and bond it into the replacement keys and then have it programmed? I've got VAG.COM and VAG TACHO as we have a MK4 GT TDI 150 in the household too.. I know with the Golf's you can retreieve the Secret Key Code and reprogram the key yourself via VAG COM...

Anyone know if it's the same on the 6N2? There's a place local to me that can program keys anyway even if I can't do it...

i called vw and they said to get a duplicate key would cost £108.

i forgot to ask them if they would be willing to cut the new duplicate keys on the rclick blanks (i.e. make the blanks able to start the car also).

does anyone know if they do this?

Audi will cut the worm style keys like the polos have for about 8 quid a key. To program is generally £75 plus the VAT, but some auto locksmiths can 'clone' the transponder chip code onto another and make it work.

Just a quick note to say many thanks for this guide. My kit eventually turned up from Germany after a long Paypal dispute with the seller.

Although the instructions were in German, the guide on this forum made it very easy and thankfully all the wiring colour coding was the same (except the window roll up which was red on my kit, not green).

I also bought the relay from Maplins and got the window roll up functionality. Just need to get the blades cut and transponders coded but right now I'm just buzzing off this mod

I just followed the instructions exactly and didn't need to swap any wiring for the lock/unlock. Regarding the window rollup, I put it to White/yellow.

Just to point out there can be confusion as there seems to be two white/yellow's but on closer inspection you'll find that one is White/Yellow and the other is Yellow/white. The wire coming off terminal 7 is the correct wire.

Also, the relay I bought was 5 pin, not 4 pin - but the centre pin is unused.

Very very easy mod, and extremely effective. Totally modernises what is an otherwise excellent modern car. My keyfobs are the same quality as the 3 button OEM VW keyfob my brother has on his MK4 Golf, and I'm keen now to get the flip key working

Could the different relay be the reason why my attempt to install the windows rollup function fail?

Just buy the N00AW from Maplin (£1.98). They keep them in stock in the stores..

Hmm then what's the problem mate? Which kit are you using? Mine worked first time and works a charm every time.

Does your window up/down work with the key in the door barrel?
