Thank you ever so much...I have just purchased one...tres excitement!
Probably should be slightly more concerned as to whether or not my polo can pass it's darn MOT next week than making it look all shiny and pretty...ho hum.

HEY AGAIN ALL...
Sorry i haven't posted in ages, currently in the middle of my AS exams at college =/.
No real updates because i'm a broke student, but dad found his old head unit before he got one with a GPS sat nav built in, and I claimed it on the spot because it does CDs.
Nothing special, but it's better than the one that came with the polo... =/.
Only thing is, how the f**k do i get the original one out? i understand you're "supposed" to use the VW keys, but is there any way of getting it out with something more... screwdriver like?
Many thanks,
Geedub

Put your hand in the cubby box under the radio and pull them both out at the same time.

Haha cheers buddy... got frustrated and ended up levering it out with a pair of screwdrivers... worked a treat

.
Turns out the new head unit is a Rockford Fosgate RFX-8130... Old, and made in mexico, but sounds F*cking amazing compared to the standard one xD.
Gotta wait for three adaptors to be delivered from ebay, but can't wait

Hi, Just looking at this picture, is the aux wire directly installed to the back of the cassette player? If so would you mind telling me how you did it and if it was a simple install?
Or am i being stupid and its just a set of headphones!
Cheers.

Haha sorry buddy, that's just the connector for a battery radio transmitter... =/.
Worked fine as a cheap fix (think it was about £5?), but as it used radio frequencies to transmit wirelessly whenever you get a radio station with a frequency that is vaguely close you get interference and it sounds sh!t.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/JSG-Radio-Trans ... 139&sr=1-1
They work OK in some places, but interference kills it.
I hardwired an AUX cable into the 13 pin DIN connector of my newer head unit instead of connecting it to a 6 CD changer though... that wasn't too hard but i don't think the standard VW head unit has any external inputs.
Hope that helped!
Gee

Rigghhtttt, no more updates as of yet, but some ideas, and payday is fast approaching...
Manual locking is really pissing me off. I think alex said he got a discount from rclick, so would
http://www.rclick.co.uk/product_info.ph ... cts_id=398
Be the right kit go get? (my doors have the pins that have to be pulled up/down individually... not even key activated central locking).
If so, while i had the door cards off and crap anyway it's probably best to see if i can colour code my handles at the same time... Do VW sell colour coded handles (preferably 2 rear and 2 front with locks, but 4 without locks could work too i suppose) ?
Also, do they sell colour coded bump strips or would i have to get those painted?
Apart from that, contemplating retrimming the headlining because I managed to rip it with my kiteboarding stuff on the way to hunstanton (managed to take some mates two hours away from anyone they knew, and one of them forgot to mention that he hadn't flown a power kite before... 4 broken ribs, a punctured lung and a broken shoulderblade later he realised that was kinda important xD).
Many thanks,
Gee

Thats the right kit mate
You can take the handles off without removing the door cards quite easily
VW do not sell colour coded handles, nor do they sell colour coded handles. You would have to get them painted after buying the primered ones from VW

ahh alright mate... thanks

. i'm not terrible with a spray can so if i can get some flash red spray from VW or something that's not too expensive i'll think about it

.
Would i be able to buy another slave solenoid for a fiver and add it to that kit to do the boot as well, or would i need another master or something? Contemplating doing the boot as well and fitting the remote boot release while i'm at it to make use of that spare button

.
