Its all about fresh calipers
Probably the Worlds greatest Polo resource

I used a screw-driver as well, but on the rear ones it came off a lot easier than the front ones. With the front ones on the paint that was still stuck solid, I rubbed the edges with sand paper to feather it from where it went from paint to bare metal so the edges didn't show up when I painted over it.t.small wrote:Nice job on the calipers! I gave mine a quick go a few weeks ago but only the rears, never got around to doing the front. Did you just use a wire brush to remove the flaky paint? I gave it a good go with one but couldn't get all of the paint off. Some came off real easy and other bits were pretty difficult.
Yeah that's the issue I had when I did my rear ones. Wasn't sure whether to remove all the paint, so there is a small step between existing paint and bare metal. Not visible though through the wheels really unless you have a proper inspection.Aquavalver wrote:I used a screw-driver as well, but on the rear ones it came off a lot easier than the front ones. Thanks both! Not so easy to get half decent pics at this time of year what with less daylight hours and not so good weather etc!emma_88 wrote:Wheels look spot on.

Yeah, I know, but until I find a new job after being made redundant, I can't afford anything. Don't want cheap coilovers and thinking of decent springs-say 30 or 40mm lower, but not sure if that height will work out how I want. Anyone got pics with 30 or 40mm lower?Endi_GTI wrote:Looks great, but I agree with a slight drop to to set it off completely
Great! Thanks!alexperkins wrote:Mine is down 35mm on Eibach Pro springs which are superb
I can get a pic tomorrow
