Wow..you lost me....dont understand that.
Short version: The "P)))" button manually switches on the front and rear sensors if they are off (and you're driving under 10mph for the car to think you might want to park). It also switches them off if they've come on automatically or you've switched them on (they'll switch themselves off if you go over 10mph).
That button will help turn the sensors off, but won't help my automatic triggering issue in crawling traffic.

As far as I'm aware, that "P)))" button pressed without the front parking sensors triggered will put them on if I'm under 10mph at the time of pressing, and will switch them off if front parking sensors come on on their own, but won't prevent them coming on again if there's another traffic crawl that triggers them to come on.
That’s the way the parking sensors work in my previous generation Polo GTI.
Do the fronts come on automatically in crawling traffic? If they do, can you switch the feature off in the menus so that they won't automatically trigger except when reverse has been engaged?

They’ve come on probably no more than 10-12 times in total in nearly three years ownership of the car, so it’s never really bothered me. I’ve not checked to see if there’s an option in the menus to switch the sensors off so they don’t automatically trigger, other than when reverse gear is selected. I’ve read on another forum that if you’re behind certain makes of vehicle, it seems to trigger the front sensors in crawling traffic - presumably picking up the signal from the rear sensors of the vehicle you’re behind. Seem to remember the Ford Kuga was mentioned as one such vehicle.
My rear sensors will go off in crawling traffic if the vehicle behind gets too close, which I’ve always assumed to be normal as they’re detecting an object that’s within the normal range for the sensors to detect an object behind the car.

I had a look in the car settings today on my previous generation GTI to see if it’s possible to switch of the front parking sensors so they’ll only activate if you turn them on manually. As far as I can see, the only thing you can switch off / deactivate is the auto display on the infotainment screen of the image of the car and it’s proximity to other objects. No option to switch off the front sensors.

I'm almost 7K Miles in after 5 and half Months on my GTI+ and overall I love it! It's one of the best all round vehicles I have ever owned, and that's a long list of vehicles.
I think that it's easy for people to focus on the issues and niggles that get reported on forums, and in saying that I don't want to take anything away from some of the genuine concerns that I have seen raised, and my car hasn't been without it's niggles but nothing major or anything that has not been overcome or has had a significant impact on the overall ownership experience.
Using the old adage, buy once and buy well, there isn't one aspect of the car that doesn't fulfil by original selection criteria. I love the tech available, the screen with Android auto / Apple Car Play, the ACC, the Active info display to name but a few. The fact that it's not too big, and not too small. Primarily I use it as a daily commuter with just me as an occupant, but when I do need to take the (growing up fast) kids in the back it does so with ease. Predominantly as a motorway commuter, M4, M25, my ability to drive quickly is generally thwarted by the prevailing road conditions, but as such it has proved to be a reliable comfortable daily driver, with the option of Normal and even Eco (which I never use) to further refine the experience, but then with the ability to go in to sport mode or individual and even firm up the dampers (I tend not to), at which point it's a really fun car to drive, and more than adequately quick for me. I like it's (understated?) looks on the outside and love the classic checked seats, with the red dash pad with ambient lighting at night to brighten up the interior.
Yes, there are cars out there that will do things better in certain areas but then they may also be compromised in others. Of all the cars I have had this has to be one of the best all rounders at the price point which ticks all of my wants and needs without any major compromise and with relatively good economy for the type of distance driving with sporty driving and handling characteristics when wanted.
Almost 11 Months on since I ordered the car, if I was theoretically in the market for a new car, I would order the same car, in the same specification again, and as for me there isn't anything else in the market place that competes at the same price point.
I hope this post serves as some positive reading for those people that are enduring the wait for their cars. I can empathise although I thought my 22 Week wait was a long time when orders first went in. But the message from me is that it will be well worth the wait.

It isn't a chase it's an endurance.

Cars are a rip off in general - we've had a very long recession with record low wage growth, and yet in the last 10 years the Golf GTI is 45% more expensive in 2018 in MK7 guise than it was in 2008 at the end of the MK5's lifecycle. We've had a lot of connectivity and tech advances in that time, but tech is cheap (The multimedia dash screen being marginally cheaper to manufacture than the set of dials it replaces) and the cars are as thirsty as ever like for like on output in real life driving situations.
For all that, the Polo GTI+ looks a steal next to the Golf GTI PP - £7k cheaper in RRP (£5k cheaper actual, once the Golf's deposit contribution is accounted for). Comparable equipment list 90% of the performance every bit as sturdy and well built for 2/3 the money (depreciation/monthlies).
The only complaints I have with mine are small niggles that are there by design, not fault. VW trying to be a bit too clever with the tech and it not working well in reality.

Enjoying my GTi.
H&R springs and the OZ 19" wheels have made a major difference with the handling.
There have been a few reports of fuel pump failure in SA. Waiting to hear if my vehicle needs a replacement fuel pump.

I see so many negative comments and complaints all over this forum.
Like condensation, handbreak issues, gearbox issues, fuel economy, glitchy touch screens, squeeky breaks, bad tires and so on.
I am wondering if people are actually enjoying their GTI and/or if it is even enjoyable?
I am getting mine next month but I am so worried due to all these comments and topics.
