Mini test bench.

Both GW are updated to the latest possible version.

Normally it can be used for all platforms and initially the colors of the wires are for quick identification, but it must be kept in mind that each platform has its small connection peculiarities, so it is necessary to verify the wiring diagrams to configure communications appropriately.
The ideal thing would be to have a 'mini' test bench for each platform, but it doesn't suit us because we don't have so much space available for these little things.

A little/big tip:
'Finish any diagnostic session with the VAS/ODIS'.
Some diagnostic tools -including the best ones (nothing and no one is perfect)- leave traces that can then cause unexpected malfunctions in the control units.

The priority is to install the Passat B8 BSD warning lights due to their multiple qualities (electronic compatibility, directional light beam, original spare parts in case of failure, fin shark aesthetics , etc...). But as the idea of ​​'Make Life Easier' is also High priority so that anyone can do it in the same way if they are determined to carry out this installation, I continue to imagine other possible BSD warning lights.











For location 1 (previous images) there is also a trim available for 6R with manually adjustable mirrors instead of electrically. My good friend CNK told me about it via PM (super thanks, I sincerely appreciate your help ), which I had already considered when I looked for the mirror trim references in the ETKA (PR-codes).


At Ali we have warning lights with many logos available that could perhaps be used in conjunction with these manually adjusted mirror trims.


It will depend on the diameter of the hole in the manual adjustment mirror trims. I also bought this warning lights some time ago along with the radar connectors, but they are persistently taking a long time to arrive.
CNK's idea is brilliant, so it will have to be tested. I will buy the right trim with original hole once I receive these round warning lights.

The cardboard pattern is the internal shape of the Passat B8 BSD warning light/lamp, NOT the external shape... later, after the supposed magic that has to happen, there will be no stepped shapes.

The ones with a dynamic flow seem to have intelligence.

On Friday (or before) I will receive the radar connectors, so I will spend a fun weekend doing some more serious testing.

Today I have taken more images of the original mirror trims to try to imagine in 3D the exact position of the Passat B8 BSD warning lights.
These BSD warning lights emit a directional light within a certain angle, that is, they are designed so that only the driver can see them clearly.





The driver's side seems to be the most delicate in these terms, in the passenger side there should be no problems.

I'm really intrigued, because once I drilled the hole in order to the lamp tabs to properly attach the lamps to the trims, it is possible to install them at two angles (depends on how are fitted the lamp tabs into the trim).

... the hardest part is cleaning the inside of the hood, apart from the normal dirt, a second layer of dirt forms that is very well embedded due to the temperatures that the engine reaches, ... I had to use chimney degreaser (⚠).

The radar connectors have NOT arrived, they are pending delivery by the local transport company in the unfortunate place where I was accidentally born.

The important tests will have to wait...

Adaptations, Coding, Identification.

In the following video I show you what will be initially and possibly definitively the Adaptations and Coding 'with VCDS' for my POLO 6R 'PQ'25. It is the same thing that Slavik has posted in D2 but with the VCDS instead of the VAS.

These 5Q0 radars are parameterized for Golf (7-7.5) with VCP, the identification of the parameters is not shown in the video.
They will be parameterized again once installed.
Do not touch the calibrations in the basic settings, these radars self-calibrate while moving.


Small summary of the tests.

With the GW, Radars, OEM warning lights and diagnostic tool connected to the mini test bench everything works as it should.
In active rest state (+15) this set shows a consumption of 0.48 Amp, which ranges between 0.48 and 0.52 Amp depending on the number of warning lights that are connected and operational. A speed of 15 km/h - 10 mi/h is necessary to know the real consumption, that is, when the radar antennas are operational.

Of all non-OEM warning lights (12v) I had to test, only one has passed the tests satisfactorily, that is, without diagnostic failures and with ample possibilities of being physically installed in a simple way.

Forget any LED lamp that has light behavior with dynamic flow, faults in the diagnosis are generated.

During testing I connected up to three LED warning lights at the same time on the same side, on both sides, ... no faults are generated.
This widely opens the range of possibilities, that is, if you have a larger spaceship (T5, T6) or another PQ model in which the LC with 5Q0/2Q0 radars can be electronically installed, you can give free rein to your imagination (without excesses ).

I can now start with the manual work I learned in school when I was a little child but with tools and materials for a big child.

I have ruled out the following OEM BSD warning lights...



...despite improving the lumens. The light is dispersed poorly and the result is not satisfactory, ... you can see them something better, but it is still too dim for the possible operating conditions (including almost orange deserts ).

The mirrors on my Golf7.5 are genuine/original VW made in Europe!. Just in case you don't understand that I like to play with all the suits in the deck before making my bet.

Lying is very far from my human condition, and fortunately the way I interpret things ends up being quite close to what is considered true or real, others always seem to be on the opposite side. Neither better nor worse than the rest, but I am not going to allow you to say that I lie using lies....

I have almost had to do a PhD/master's degree in light reflection, colors, etc... to try to improve something that is poorly manufactured.
Better to throw it in the trash and not go into details that would bore everyone.

In this case, I am going to apply better and simple technology to achieve a perfect/sharp lighting of these BSD warning lights.

Any of them can be with 12v LEDs, so the voltage regulator would not be necessary.
