Thank you matti/Norbreck21a, I did wonder, I thought it was in the boot like the GTI. Does seem mighty strange that, but apparently it was done for weight distribution reasons.
Seems I have lost the Blue GT to my wife having only driven it for two miles in the last month, she seems to like pottering around in it and is loving the fuel economy and the proper Bluetooth integrated to the RCD and seems to be running well on the winters, she hated my 500 so testament to the car
I've been lumbered with her mk5 which has been having some TLC, shame I got caught speeding in it and 300bhp on winter tyres is fun when temps sneak over 7d
Finally got my tyre fitted on Friday afternoon and then as I drove off the light came back on, so took it back again.
Turns out they didn't reset the sensor when they changed the tyre! It's honestly been a bit of a comedy of errors but you have to laugh at these things I guess....
New member onboard! I am based in India where VW has launched 2 new models this year - the GT TSI (1.2 motor with the DQ200 DSG) and the GT TDI (1.6 motor with a 5-speed manual gearbox). Unfortunately, both the top-end Polo cars have underwent several cost cutting as a result of which many features have been stripped down.
I had a look at the steering wheel of the Blue GT and it has a nice GT emblem/logo at the bottom spoke of the wheel:
Whereas this is what we get here:
I think it may be possible to replace the existing plastic (or Aluminium?) part on the bottom spoke with the GT variant. I searched online but couldn't find a proper replacement part. Can someone help me out please?

I actually forgot about that... Like Norbreck says; there's no guarantee... I would go for a complete steeringwheel. You have the most expensive part allready. The airbag.

Confirmed at VW it was a slow puncture on the wall of the tyre so they couldn't repair it but turns out they can't supply the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tyres that the car came with from the factory. They just don't do them - at all! The only tyres they could supply were Pirellis but as I was only going to replace the one (the tyres have only done 1600 miles) I wanted Dunlops to match the tyres I already have.
Turns out these Dunlop tyres aren't easy to get hold of!
Bear in mind I found out about the puncture on Monday night, on Tuesday morning I went to VW (they fitted the spare wheel for me) and then I rang round local tyre shops. None of them had it in stock, it was an order-in only. Kwik Fit couldn't get a tyre til Friday morning, Halfords couldn't get one at all and the local indie garages who could get one also said Friday, so I went through Blackcircles because they could get the tyre to a local garage for Thursday morning. Living in a fairly large city, maybe it was wishful thinking to expect at least one garage to have something in stock?
I got a call from them on Wednesday just before 5pm informing me they had lost the tyre en route and it hadn't arrived at my garage. I waited in all day yesterday to hear any news. They finally confirmed at 2.30pm yesterday that their courier had experienced an IT issue and because of this, they had ended up sending my tyre 200 miles away (you honestly couldn't make this up!)
So it's Friday morning now, I haven't been able to get into the office and I'm still without a tyre. I've paid £120 for a replacement which still hasn't arrived at the garage. I knew these tyres would be £120 each, but I had no idea they'd be so difficult to get hold of!
I had the same problem a few weeks ago. The dealer told me the same story but I remained insistent that I wanted a like for like Dunlop.
They did manage to get one after 7 days. Keep pushing them.

You guys are right. The part wouldn't fit since the steering wheel has a flat bottom; the part on the GT is actually different if you take a closer look.
