Talking of progress, the reason I kept the dash mounted so far, is that I made an appointment the 25th, my arches will be rolled then, to get me more clearing to tuck in more wheel into those arches! that airride has to drop it likes it's hot
Hopefully that sunday afterwards the old dashboard is out and onto the shelf for storage, waiting for a new owner

Got a little package in from Germany, to keep the oil temperature on a steady level so it stays thick and lubracating



Thermostate is also underway

Ok, ok, I've got to admit, I'm addicted to buying stuff for the mk4

Got me a set of these:



2 Viair 380C compressors for the airride install. Now I'm using a single 350C, these will definately decrease the time needed to fill up that big 19liter chromed tank of mine, also these 2 babies are chromed themselfs too

But the addiction goes even further




Collected myself a rollbar/cage thingy last week, was the funniest (and savest) trip me & Basjuh made

I know the feeling mate, if I had more funds I know I'd be just as bad!

Finally had some time for working on the mk4 last monday evening, so finally got the old dash out. Over the years of progress on the mk4 many new electronics were added, and most of the wiring went through the dash (centrl locking, alarm, audio, air-ride controls, performace gauges etc.) So had to take all that out first in a decent manner before taking out the old dash, felt like it took ages, but worked out fine.

Half way through it looked like this, my old man came walking into the garage at this moment, and straight away asking me: "Jezus, what the hell do you think you're doing? Have you even noticed what your car now looks like from the inside?!"
"Dad.... just go and get me some coffe will ya? That's helping me just a bit more then asking silly questions"

It's always nice to drive around with some flora in your car, at least now I know why me car always smelled to pine-tree so nicely

Next stop, drain the coolant and get the old vent/heater out, get the mk5 climatronic one in and start fitting the mk5 dash

does the mk5 dash swap straight into the mk4, or need abit of mooding??

I don't know about the mood or what mood to set, but I'm pretty sure that if I'm not in the mood, it won't be a straight swap

But without pissin'about, I'm told it's not a straight swap, but it will definately be an easier one than plugging in a TT-dash, I'll try to take as many pictures as I can during the works

Please do jarno, i'm considering a 6n2 dash conversion in mine if its not incredibly hard

Did me some fair amount of work & progress last night, all thanks to the helping hands of Basjuh! Cheers for that lad!
Drained the coolant, took some squeezing in the hoses to get the most out of the heater-radiator before removing the heating-system. Took that out too eventually. All doorcards are off again, battery out and will find itself a new home in the trunk.

Also test-fitted the mk5 dash, just for looks of what might become an issue, and found some indeed. Will be working on that next time(s)
