Karl I saw your members rides post, you've put a fair bit of work into the car for someone who can't even drive it yet! Respect... 8)

That said you might be better off getting a Panda or a Corsa or something equally horrid for a year just to get no-claims bonus (and experience in something expendable during the year you're most likely to crash in) without having to spend insane amounts. £2600 for one year...... eeeouch. Thats... like... purchase price of my polo... two years insurance (20 thru 22 yrs old), tax and MOT.... all the oil and filter changes since... and probably most of the other servicing I've had done on it in the last almost-2-years.

((note: dont talk to me about fuel costs, thats an entirely separate matter... i've just finished rooting out all my saved receipts to date (*mostly* milage-marked) and put em all in a spreadsheet to do the math. Worrying trends on the graphs in terms of price per litre and recent MPG........ not to mention the bottom figure in the 'running total spend' column - and thats WITH the big gaps (a couplathree 3-month missing sections) not interpolated  ))

citroen ax 1.1 chicago it was a bag of s**t very unreliable
but I sold it a few weeks ago with a k&n on brake leak knackered choke
knackered bonnet catch

broken light mounts no boot lock no steerin wheel lock
no heaters oil leak apart from that it was ok sold for 150

then i bought a g reg polo (red)
excellent condition 90,000 on clock
1.3 need gearbox though as this one is on its way out
so i might put a 5 speed instead of the 4speed whihc is in now.

Posting unofficially on behalf of a classmate of my mum's (at French evening school).

An Audi Quattro! (possibly a TT, something like that - she's rubbish with cars but it was definately a flash, sporty, recent 4-ringer)

His wife wrote it off last week, and now he has a D-reg black mk2... only cost him £150 plus a bit of MOT work (bulbs, tyres etc) and he thinks its a gem for running round town ;)

right on!

Glad to see you tossed that french nonsense Rob... I don't trust any car that I can't even *touch* the brake pedal of! (its got the worlds worst RHD conversion ever)

This one is for KarlM

http://www.funpedia.net/clips/055.zip

Its a much better quality video and I knew he'd like it....... They don't keep the files up long so anyone else who fancies seeing my other car given a proper ragging on Top gear have a look - if your 56K don't bother - really need broadband

:D Having some of that...
Telewest just upgraded from 512 to 768 for nothing... grabbed it in under 2 minutes 8)

I was so into that car just for the specs when i was little... and now i can appreciate the looks as well.
I just hope they never made it in any other colour. Can you imagine some barry getting hold of a white one?
