Nice update buddy.I used to have the same aerial before i bought a fin.They do look the part and in my opinion are the perfect size for the polo.Almost identical to the popular Enfig aerials everyone used to fit.

Its a nice replacement for the huge standard aerial.
I went for the smaller Stubby aerial last year but the reception is pretty poor on them so I bought myself a Shark Fin recently which I havent fitted yet.

I'm hoping to lower my car at some stage in the near future... I'm not in to the whole 'slammed' look but like many of you, i'm worried about going for a fixed setup and then maybe feeling like I've wasted some money If I don't like the drop.
Now, I don't want to spend MEGA-bucks (£1000) on a set of coilovers but at the same time, I'm tempted by the hottuning coilovers. How bad can they really be? From what I can gather, a lot of the budget coilovers are just the same product rebranded. I'm not after a huge drop.. maybe only about 40mm, 50 at most which is why I feel that maybe hottunning or JOM or any of those brands might not be a bad idea.
I know there's the whole corrosion issue but some kind of anti-seize and regular maintenance should prevent that?
I'd appreciate some help on this... it's a lot to think about

If you’re only looking for a 40/50mm drop then it might be worth looking more into uprated Shocks & Springs rather than coilovers because for the sake of driving comfort it’s not worth fitting coilovers to only drop it 40mm.
Coilovers are harsh on poor road surfaces but if you’re on a nice flat road they feel amazing and the car just sticks to the road so well.
I was a little nervous about getting coilovers because I live on small farm lanes but it’s something I have never regretted.
I would recommend getting a decent set of coilovers really such as Weitecs or AP's.
Suspension is an important upgrade so it’s always worth spending good money on and getting a good set-up

I've had a set of JOM's on since march and they have been pretty good. I knew it wouldn't be such a nice ride but to be honest its not uncomfortable.
If your sure about only doing a 40/50mm drop go for shocks and springs, if you even have a tiny bit of doubt go coilovers. Polo Gti's are very high standard, you may drop it 40mm and then wish you had gone down a bit more.
Mine's down about 90mm which is a bit to low really, catches occasionally, and have to slow right down for bumps. On the other hand i love how it looks.

AP's kinda seem like the middle ground to be honest. Are they much different from hottuning or JOM though? that's what confuses me!
At the minute... I think AP's may be the brand to go with

JOMs really arent that bad at all, ride is a bit bouncy, but nothing backbreaking. iv had mine on since around April and put some copper grease spray on. hadnt touched it til last week, (raised it for MOT) cleaned it up and re-greased it. The threads looked brand new when I wiped them clean with a cloth and a bit of wd40. Only my opinion, dnt know how much better the expensive sets are tbh!

I was in the same boat as you.I didn't wnt a huge drop like most people just wanted to kinda of half the arch gap.
I origionally wanted Uprated shocks and springs but couldn't risk spending £450 only for them not to give the drop i wanted so i opted for coilovers in the end.Im glad i did they handle superb i managed to get the height exactly as i wanted with no worries.
I did opt for mid range Weitecs which came in around £460.I have heard good reviews on the cheapos though so just do abit more research to sway your decision.

Yeah a lot of people rate the JOM's so they must be pretty good and are a really good price.
Its how long they last though it what I would be concerned with but its probably the worth the gamble at under £200.
A good tip to keep your coilovers in top shape is to not only grease the threads but to put tape over them too.
The grease does a good job but all the dirt sticks to it in comparison to the tape which keeps them perfectly protected underneath

I've got TA Tecknix coilovers on my larl polo (same as the JOM ones I'm assuming?) and I've had mine on since May '09. No problems at all, ride is a bit harsh, but I live with it.
On my next car though I think I'd rather save a bit more and buy a different make, such as weitec or AP to see if they are more comfortable.

I have JOM's on mine too..
Turns out they are the same as TA's and Rokor ones, just re-branded. I can actually get JOM's at trade direct from the factory too if you want? 2 years guarantee on them.
They are ok for the money, I had some TA Teknics shocks and springs on mine and the JOM's are sooo much better. They can be a bit crashy over pot holes and things, but I am ridiculously low (like 20mm from the bottom of the thread). When I first run them at about half way, they were much better.
Saying that, if I were to buy coilovers again I will be buying something better, like KW's or something. I personally wouldn't bother with the mid range as your most of the expense there to buy some good ones.
But saying that, you won't complain for the money with the JOM/TA/Rokor ones.
