Did I know who he was?
Like I once knew, but I've forgotten?
Do you mean "do I know who he is"?
Which one?
Gretsky or Gretzky
You've said 'was', which suggests it might not be Wayne Gretzky, as he's still alive.
But you didn't know Colin McRae was dead, so you might be equally unaware that Wayne Gretzky is still alive.
You really are a grade one tosser. Answer the question. On second thoughts, I don't think you should be left in charge of a keyboard.

Are you thick?
I've already demonstrated I know of one, assuming you spelled it incorrectly and meant a 'z'.
If you spelled it correctly with an 's', not a clue - why would I?
Is this another RONNIE PICKERING thing?

Anyone can Google a name. Did you know who he was prior to my earlier post? It seems that a simple question is too difficult for you.

Is there a point coming here?
I knew who Wayne Gretzky is without googling, believe it or not.
What's the
point of asking who he is?

So many people bumping cars in car parks and sloping off.
There are procedures in place for this though.
If it's a car park with 'unhindered access', then it's classed as a public road and the guilty party sloping off can be done with 'leaving the scene of an accident'
I know someone who did this in an Asda, she got 6 points and a hefty fine (rightly so, sheer stupidity).
The premises involved is obliged to give you CCTV footage of the carpark under the freedom of information act and can only charge a maximum of £10 for doing so.
Of course, you can claim your camera will alleviate one part of the above process, but will it really?
I mean, if the camera just shows your car 'rocking' and another car near it, where is the
actual proof contact took place?
I feel you'd
still need external coverage to prove contact, especially if it's contact from the side (as is most common in car parks).
If it's a car park with barriers and clearly defined open/close times, then it becomes a civil matter and your camera won't help much.
As I said, when cameras become part of the OE spec and nice and neat, I'll think about it - I'm not dead set against them.
I'm not ripping apart trim etc, that just introduces the possibility of rattles that your warranty won't cover.
I tried getting the CCTV footage, just as extra, to prove he got out and looked at the damage after parking (could not doubt being aware then) as my dashcam didn't capture his inspection. Lazy bastard security guy wouldn't look, even though I gave him a 2 minute window to look at. Claimed there was no CCTV coverage even though it was right in the view of a CCTV camera in Sainsbury's car park.
You can't rely on getting CCTV coverage, even if where it happened has some.

A colleague here had this carry on, until I pointed out they're legally obliged to provide it.
He got management, he paid £10, he got the footage.
Unfortunately just a little too out of range to get the reg of the car, but it's unlikely a dashcam would have either.
Am I correct in thinking they don't all work when parked?

At last.
You do a remarkably convincing impression of a complete imbecile. If it quacks like a duck, etc.

Some don't work when parked, but mine needs something to happen to set it off working again after hibernating. If the driver doesn't cross the path of either camera to check his handiwork then you won't see him. My cameras saw him drive across my car and come to rest in the space next to mine but one car behind mine. A witness saw the event as he was parked opposite me and facing me (we both backed into our spaces). My dashcam saw the pass, heard the scrape and saw him come to rest in his space, where his wife got out to do the shopping. When I came out with the shopping, the witness approached me to tell me what went on. We both approached the man sat in his car and the witness said what happened. The guy denied it. I showed him my blue paint on his grey car, at the same height as my scrape, then he denied knowingly doing it. The witness called him out on having got out and checked the damage. All this walking between the cars caught him on my camera -he couldn't deny being there, nor the discussion. I took pics of my car and his around the scrape area, making sure I got his number plate in the pics. He wouldn't give any details other than a mobile number. I told him it was likely a bumper off and respray job as he'd taken all the paint off in places, right down to the black plastic of the bumper. I offered to get a quote and ring him. He said ok begrudgingly.
Got a quote, but it was coming in at about £900 - bumper off for respray (£350) requires ACC recalibration (old system with sensor in the lower grille = £160), to recalibrate ACC you must first perform a full laser wheel alignment (£400). The bloke thought I was ripping him off. I said I only rang to give tge quote and advise it's better going through insurance channels - their claims assessor would determine the cost. Again he accused me of ripping off because he'd T-cutted his car and it was now fine. Yes, because you rubbed all my paint onto your car - T-cut won't put my paint back on!
He and his insurer played a game of non-communication with my claims company. A £1300 claim (inclusive of a bit of car hire) has become £11200 after taking Eagle Star Direct to court with my footage, photos and the witness testimony.
Glad I had the dashcam!

Yup. I have film of someone driving into the side of my car. I have film of someone pulling out from a side road in front of me. Probably cash for crash. I have film of someone pulling out from a side road, I emergency braked. I have film of a cyclist almost cycling into the front of my car. You can see him looking backwards whilst talking to his mate. Had I hit him, the film would have saved me from prosecution. I have film of a cyclist knocked off his bike by a car turning right, across his path. I have film of an oncoming emergency vehicle overtaking on solid white lines, on a very foggy overcast morning, poor visibility, he nearly hit me head on. All, I saw was bright lights, didn’t realise he was on my side of the road until too late. Driving without a dashcam is madness. But some people think they know everything.

Apart from the number of road users trying to involve others in their suicide attempts, probably the most sickening thing I've seen on the roads was on Christmas Eve when traffic wouldn't leave a gap for ambulances to enter / leave an A&E hospital. Obviously someone jumping the traffic queue is quite beyond terrible and preventing this is much more important than allowing the sick get to / from the hospital, but seriously sometimes words just fail me....

This is an example of the paranoia that makes people buy cameras.
You've already convinced yourself that people are so dishonest that, without the camera, any accident would have been made your fault.
You've no proof of this whatsoever, had there been an accident the guy on the bike might well have gone "jesus, my fault mate, sorry"
But you feel it's justified the purchase of the camera.
They're all out to get you, you need to film it all.
I don't feel this paranoia, so don't feel the need for a camera.
You'll call me naive, I'll call you paranoid.

You really are a total prat. If you read my comments on cameras you'd know it has already ensured that I keep my NCB.
Of course everyone who is involved in an accident tells the truth. (Sarcasm alert for the hard of thinking.) Did you know that Father Christmas and the Tooth Fairy do not exist? Have you ever come across cash for crash scams? I've had three cases where someone tried to engineer a crash. One of these cars is now on the police database in case they try it on with someone else.
