Shame you couldn't make it calvin.. in the end we had 4 cars there, two of which came from 10 minutes down the road from me  (He says after driving 40 minutes to get to south mimms services  ). Never mind though, all were nice guys, and good to meet a few people from the forums at last. Must say I felt slightly out of place with my standard mk2 alongside two 6n2's and a 9n, all nicely modded up, but hey :D Hopefully see all you guys around.

Despite the small turn out it was all good and it was good to put some faces to some "names" .

GroovyCarrot - your car is wicked, quite amazed out how smoothly it works and it looks great. Lol and sorry i didn't see you on the way home, my mate pointed out it was you but at the time i couldn't understand what the hell he was going out about. . Would have given you a hoot and a wave otherwise  .

Well I didn't - well not by mid morning Sunday as planned - nightmare weekend - finally got home at 8.30pm Sunday Evening.......

Apologies for missing the meet but while you we all chatting (hopefully enjoying a coffee or two) I was still up to my armpits in MGBGT Engine and clutches....

Here's a brief summary of my weekend - It's a 1972 MGBGT BTW (in case anyone wonders)

Sat midday arrived and started work - engine out by 2.30pm - clutch had completely destroyed itself, bits everywhere inside the bell housing.

2 tins of Gunk and a jet wash cleaned the bell housing out
3 tins of Gunk and several jet washes cleaned the engine up

Dried engine with fan heater and installed new clutch whilst it dried

Painted complete engine once dry and went to bed after a couple of beers before midnight

Sun Morning started at 10am and by 12am had it installed (sitting on new engine mounts) and then Bruv produced a complete stainless exhaust system from the garage loft

Got that fitted in double quick time but getting to Sarf Mimms was now getting doubtfull - then it wouldn't start - leads on the wrong plugs didn't help (thanks Bruv  )

Finally got it running about 4pm (rough but running) and then strobe timed it up only to find big puddle of oil under the car - bugger - still dark brown oil shows up real well on a freshly painted engine eventually traced to split hose leading to oil pressure guage (didn't have a spare so he'll have to fit that when he gets a new one delivered) It had been split for a while so kinda explains his oil consumption problems - the underside of his car will never rust

Cheers guys, must say you've got some sweet cars yourselves :) I've got something to aspire to when I have the money for something a touch newer now ;)

SiDaBa, noticed you on the way back but I was too busy being stuck in the slow lane behind some old dear to realise you were going past until you were gone :)

B*stard (always feel a bit uncomfortable calling you that  ), shame you couldn't make it along, but hey, sounds like you got to play with a lovely old car there :) There's something special about old MGs.. going to have to lay my hands on one one day..
